I so agree: Rising Utility Bills & Rising Auto and Homeowners Insurance. The salaries, perks, stock options for the Rich & Famous keep going up ----- but for the middle-class and lower income, they could never catch up.

I agree with the exorbitant prices for dental work -- crowns, root canals, implants.

I don't like spending money on cars, although I want the newest safety features.  Insurance costs are painful.

There's so little TV that I truly enjoy and hate paying the cable bill. Husband wants his sports channels though.

I enjoy watching TV - but spend my time changing channels looking for something interesting, entertaining or enjoyable to watch. TV has now become so violent and depressing -- with endless commercials.

Right now, I would have to say dental bills.  Crowns and root canals especially!

@jubilant I was just thinking the same thing!  I need an implant for a molar that I had extracted back in the fall.

I went to an oral surgeon for a consult, x rays and a 3d scan of some kind.  It cost me over $400.00.  According to the surgeon basic surgery will cost me $2200.00 if I don't need bone added.

I received a call from his office after he went over my tests and of course I need bone and something else which I can't remember what it is...it will cost me $3300.00. ...with the $400.00 it is over $3700.00.  ...and I still have to get the crown.

The surgeon told me that he will work with my dentist who will provide the crown.  I have no idea on the cost of this crown but I'm guessing in the neighborhood of anywhere from 1,000.00 to $1,500.00 (maybe more?!).

All together it will cost over 5k for one lousy tooth!

Wow.  So many resentful people.  Would one expect to have the items listed free?

@haddon9   I know exactly how you feel.  I just had a failed root canal.  It was $2300. Since my tooth was at a place that doesn't show, I had them pull it. They offered to redo it and I said no. Having it pulled cost  less so they credited me the difference. Now I find that my old fillings (3 of them) will probably be needing crowns.

I talked to a dentist who just retired from his own practice (after 42 yrs.) and is working part time evaluating people's mouths. He told me, if he were me, he would just wait till something happens. I am 71 so they are old fillings but I'm keeping them as long as I can and as long as they don't bother me. I found him to be quite knowledgeable.  He is 76 and has looked at his share of mouths!  My own parents still had some of their own fillings and teeth well into their 80's. I keep my appointments for cleanings each year and brush and floss twice or more a day so I'm crossing my fingers.

I know for me, and I suspect for many others, it is a matter of paying for something that is overpriced or not a fair price at all.Or paying for something and then finding it at much better and more reasonable prices elsewhere (attention QVC!)

I don't mind paying for something that I am grateful to have but some things are just really ripping people off or are totally priced out of the park!

Then you have the example of insurance which is necessary, and I get all the reasonings behind it but sometimes after years of paying for something like life insurance or longterm care etc, then you have to cancel because the price goes up exorbitantly; you have lost all those years of paying and you get nothing from it!

Then things like medical care or dental, things that are needed but maybe unaffordable.

I don't think anyone expects things for free, just to be fair and not overly greedy that no one is happy about it,

except the ones getting rich off it and taking advantage.

For me it's the cable bill. Every month when I pay it, I'm just shocked at how high it is. But hubby wants all the channel's so I don't complain!

This seems a bit unfair (for lack of a better word). I think people naturally want their money's worth and don't want to feel like they're being taken advantage of.

@rms1954  No, I don't think any of us here expect something for nothing. Most are looking for fairness.  I know some elderly people whose  mouth"s look terrible.  Some people actually have to remain "toothless" because of a lack of funds.  If that's a front tooth they walk around toothless and I think that's a crying shame. Some just try not to smile in public. Now that's sad.

********I edited this to add....the same goes for eyeglasses. Imo, these things shouldn't be so expensive.  It is a matter of health and nothing is more important than that!!
