My mom REFUSED to have either a computer or cell phone. Simply would NOT hear of it. Later in life she admitted she missed out on so much by not having the computer. And both of us were pioneers in the business and begged her to let us get her one.
@Sooner My mom had a cell phone for use in the car for emergencies. She wouldn't have anything to do with computers and was proud to announce that she didn't. She had no problem asking me to go online and find information for her. I tried to convince her to step into this century but she had no interest. She didn't know how to use a vcr. Her major technical accomplishment was knowing how to use the microwave.
This is my mom as well. She will be 80 in a few weeks, and many people her age do buy into the technology and love it.
We got her a basic flip phone, and she hated it. She will never consider a computer. She has absolutely no need for one. She has no interest in learning how to use one or pay the money for one and the internet service. She finds out what she needs to know from books the tv or radio. If she is really wanting some research on something, she calls me or my brother.
I see no reason, for someone at that stage of life, who has never learned to embrace the new technology, to do so now. As long as she has someone in the family who will assist her with what she needs or wants in relation to that technology. It would simply cause undue stress in her life, and at 80, who needs that?

I can't do without the air conditioner, although I'm cool natured. Go figure!
I also really enjoy the tv.
Everything else I can do.

@Sooner, your post reminded me of something else. My Father-in-Law wanted to buy a microwave in the 1980's. My Mother-in-Law, said no, it will just be something else for me to clean. Once he explained to her all you needed to do was wipe it out then they did get one.

All I can think of is we have no Fitbit or DVR. I remember 30 + years ago, DH asked me if I would like a dishwasher and microwave. I said no, thinking I could wash dishes better by hand and I was afraid of the rays in our food with the microwave. As our family grew, I changed my mind quick😀.

No smartphoe here yet. I sometimes have trouble figuring out what button to push before I say hello.

We don't have ac, and we only have one 32 inch tv in the house. Haha, most people think the 32 inch tv is like doing without, LOL!

The first tv I ever purchased (had a small hand-me-down) was a 19 incher, and I thought it was big! Of course, I had better eyesight back then....

I don't think of most of the 80 year olds I know as being too old to stop living and moving forward and being excited about things that have potential to help us or entertain or inform us. When my dad was 86 he was up on all the newest things from car engines to everything. I know 90 year olds who are eager to learn new things. Just depends.

Op has said in the past she is a minimalist, survivalist. Nuff said.
Internet though? Ha ha! I guess how would one know about Armageddon then?
