Re: What kind of a camper are you?

I've camped from the mid 1950s to the present in one form or another. Started with tents and camped all over U.S. and Canada.  Later we got a trailer then a Lance Camper and now we have a fifth wheel which we store and have spotted at Pismo Beach.  We use our trailer at two week to a month per year.

Re: What kind of a camper are you?

@qualitygal  I actually live in Knoxville, so I'm about 45 mins away from Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg...I will agree it is a beautiful area, but I've not been up that way in years lol...to answer the question though, I don't camp...never have. I cannot stand bugs so it's a no-go for me, but I do think it would be fun if it weren't for that aspect.

We love camping.  We have a RV trailer with a 35 foot deck in front with comfortable patio furniture to hang out on.  We sleep in a queen size bed with a Sleep Number mattress.  It is equipped with AC, a furnace,a complete kitchen, shower and tub and flushing toilet.  This camper also has a second bedroom that contains 2 sets of bunks and a sleeper sofa.  We also have a huge wooden shed that contains a full size refrigerator and a nice size chest freezer.

We have this RV near a lake and have camped here since 2000.

We also have a second RV that we travel in.  We take it to the beach, and sometimes go Florida for a month or two during the winter.  We have been to New Orleans with it, as well as Biloxi, MS, Pigeon Ford, TN, Alabama and pretty much all over the US.....except the west coast. It too has a Queen size bed and all the comforts of home.

I prefer the RV to hotels.  I really don't want to sleep on a pillow someone drooled on, or sleep on a mattress that contains yuck from others. Upholstered furniture might look clean, but you can be sure someone else DNA is all over it.

I also like to travel with my dogs and it is much easier in an RV.  RV parks are beautiful and not the old dumps they used to be.  We plan to camp as long as we are above ground.

I am not into tenting, though I used to like it.  it is not comfortable anymore and too much work.

The type that would make a "tent" in the house for GS to sleep in when he was little.

GD now has her own tent, too.

In other words, we camp out on the sofa and eat pop corn.  LOL

We do like hiking and we love the mountains but physical limitations have taken over.  Woman Sad  Small trails in National Parks are ok but no overnight stays.

Never a camper.  Don't like going on vactation, doing the cooking, etc.  My idea of a vacation is a 5 star hotel.

I haven't camped since I was in Girl Scouts decades ago.  I would probably enjoy it now.

@CalminHeart

Last time I went camping was as a Scout too. Hated it as a child, and I would not want to do it as an adult either.

My DH & his extended family of aunts, uncles, & cousins camped every summer. They had pop up campers and tents. They have great photos of those times. Looks like everyone had fun, but his mom said it was a lot of work on her.

Re: What kind of a camper are you?

I just rememberd-when DS was in Cub Scouts they would have the Mom and Me week-ends.  We camped out for a week-end.  Treasure hunts, fireplace at night with smores, canoeing, sports, etc.

I still have the t-shirts and the leather cut-outs where you would string your beads for each activity completed.

Now I'm sad.

The kind that did it once in my 30's and said never again.  We had to chip the ice off the zipper to the tent to get out in the morning.  I came home with a tick.  That was enough for me.  There was nothing I liked about it.

Re: What kind of a camper are you?

We did this way also and for all the same reasons as

y'all, except we had a big ole kitty kat and a Parrot that went everywhere we did with that thing.  It was fun too, but never lost the taste for a really nice condo.  Just a diff. way to go!
