As far as fair/unfair, "in", etc. and the complaints of favoritism and inconsistency -
I think much of that could be addressed by making sure moderation is decently staffed on all shifts, and that if a post is reported, for the mod to take 5-10 minutes and skim a page or so, so they have context of "first punch" so to speak, and to see other relevant posts in the thread. More often than not, instead of one post being deleted, in reality 3-4 should be deleted. Not sure reading the surrounding posts is part of the moderators' job per se, but it would help the "fairness" issue. OTOH - further help comes to those who help themselves, as with many things in life.
It's an unfortunate fact that people will post to bait other posters. It's also unfortunate that there are always those who take the bait, and post back more clearly inappropriately. The original poster of the snark can then report the post they baited, and that post is removed. So "not fair" that a snarky post was left but the reply was deleted.
If no one reports the original snarky, baiting post, then no, it won't get deleted, because it was never brought to the moderators' attention - only the baited response was.
Moderators are humans, like the rest of us. I feel that on the whole, the moderation is much improved in amount and consistency from the old forum. It's never going to be perfect. Robots wouldn't please everyone either.
Most frequent posters have had something deleted. But if your posts are *frequently* deleted, one of two things is going on. Either you *are* posting inappropriately, or some posters are reporting you with regularity. The answer is (1) don't take the bait, up to you if there is a (2).
Bottom line is you are your own best defense. Thinking you should be able to post inappropriately because others "get away with it" is IMO not the best response.

You nailed it. I've seen it happen just recently on another thread in CC.

I don't expect perfection, but the uneveness in moderation is even more apparent than before which leads people to have to once again defend themselves from being berated, belittled, demeaned etc........

Exactly. It happened yesterday on her thread. Ridiculous.

Just because someone claims something doesn't mean it's true.

I wouldn't even know whether or not my replies have been deleted, because I don't know how to find them. BTW, how can we find our recent replies? Sometimes I want to go back and edit, and/or don't even recall which discussions I've commented/replied (to).

enter your user name on "search forums and blogs" box
click on the drop down box and click on users
click on the red GO button
it should take you to your name and stats
click on your number of posts
this will bring up your posting history

@ROMARY the way I "get back to" my replies is three or four-fold (complicated?)
1) open another window and sign in and leave it there
2) go to the search bar that has the word "community"
3) click and choose "users"
4) enter you screen name
5) click in the gray box (wear your glasses) and click on "# of posts
6) your recent posts will appear
PRACTICE or like me, you will forget and click on that page to go to the discussion... DON'T DO THIS... or you will have to go thru rig-a-mar-ole again! HTH

As frequent visitors to these boards know, I've been vocal about my unhappiness with the Mr. Roger's Neighborhood method of moderation here of late. I'll continue to tilt at windmills and bear the snippy retorts from a few who think I should just pack it in.
All that said, I can't imagine caring enough about anything posted here to actually call someone and ask a post be removed. I mean, really? A little perspective might be order!
