I have an interest in antiques so I am always interested in old things. What people have & the stories behind them.
My oldest possession is an antique cherry table from the federalist period which would be around the late 1700's.

Interesting question! I too have a love for antiques. Most of my decor is vintage or antiques. I don't know how old it is, but, my great-uncle (who passed away in 2016) passed down to me a zither that was supposed to have been in the family many years.

Wow! 1700s--that's old!!
I have a desk that was a Christmas present given to my grandmother and her two sister (to share) during the 1st World War. Very simple--not ornate. Love it. I keep my personalized stationary, boxed Christmas cards and bows in it. And a few very special letters that I'll always save.

The oldest thing I own is a pendulum wall clock that came from Germany and has been in my husband's family on his mom's side for well over 125 years. It's a simple design, not ornate and we love it.
Hugs . . .

I do own some really old pieces, but the one that came to mind when I saw this forum was my college sweatshirt. It is 55 years old. It is so raggy that it is barely one piece by now. But I just cannot throw it away. It is a memory of a time in my life when I really didn't have the money to go to college, even though it was cheap by today's standards. I worked part time jobs for all four years and even got a government loan that I did not have to pay back. That sweatshirt probably cost $10 at the time, and I really couldn't afford it but I bought it any way. I guess in a way it is my trophy. Right now it is safely tucked into a drawer in my bedroom where it will remain until after I've departed this earth. DRAKE UNIVERSITY, DES MOINES, IA.
GO BULLDOGS!

Land deed from the 1890’s from my great grandfather. It was the first piece of property he purchased shortly after immigrating to this country.

Of value? A hand bound book from 1870, called "The Doctor"
Most sentimental? My Christmas stocking, 62 years old !
Fun to read these replies !

I don't know it's age, but probably an antique candlestick candle that I inherited from my grandparents.
I have a diamond ring that I wear every day. My grandmother had it set into its current setting in the 1920's. The center stone is from the mid-late 1800's so that's certainly old.
I also have a bear from when I was 3. He's wearing my grandfather's christening gown. My grandfather was born in 1894.

I have a stepback cupboard that belonged to my Great Grandparents and an Eastlake table that was my Grandmother's
