Re: What is on your Turkey Day menu?

@Susan Louise, I know a lot of people who have a birthday close to a holiday don't get their own cake.   That always made me sad.

Birthdays always warrant a special cake.   😊

Ladies, what is dried corn?

EDIT:

Looking around and getting that you can purchase the dried corn and then rehydrate it some way?

I found this:

Dried Sweet Corn

Mix:

1 cup dried corn
2 cups cold water
Soak two hours. Do not drain. Add:

1/2 teaspoon salt (or sea salt)
1 tablespoon honey
pepper to taste

Cover and cook slowly until the kernels are tender (50 to 60 minutes). Correct seasonings if desired. Add butter. Serve in sauce dishes, broth and all. If you like, add two tablespoons milk. Serves four to six.

Tee hee @Noel7 I had posted I didn't know what recipe you were speaking to until I read the original post.  I hope the OP can provide additional information as I have never heard of this before!

@Susan Louise - We are going non-traditional as it's just the three of us and my teen son does not like turkey.  I am making dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) with ground lamb and an egg lemon sauce, and a big Greek salad.  Retsina (Greek wine) too!   Maybe some saganaki (flaming cheese) for an appetizer......OPA!!!!!

@MickD please do not tell me you are serving both Retsina and saganaki or be prepared to have another place setting handy because I am on my way . . . YUM!

Re: What is on your Turkey Day menu?

@ECBG, I hate to ask, and if you don't feel like posting that's absolutely fine. But, your spinach dish with cheese and tomatoes sounds so good. Would you mind telling me how you make it? I'm always looking for a new side dish as I get kinda tired of the same ole ones I make year after year.

Best to you!
