Go for it!
Maybe I'll serve him that crown roast of hot dogs that was popular on one of these threads, LOL.
Ewwww! I saw that. Good idea - NOT! hehe

Very simple this year: a small fresh turkey from Whole Foods, organic cranberries made into sauce, pan gravy, stuffing, turnip, acorn squash, peas and potatoes.
To me, it doesn't taste like Thanksgiving unless the dressing is the basic herb Pepperidge Farm in bread crumbs, with sauteed diced onion and celery. I'm looking forward to having several friends over. My family is far away, unfortunately.
ETA: Being on a bit of a health kick, I am not making a dessert but buying a sugarless (apple/spice only) pie from the Whole Foods as well as the turkey.

There will be seven of us (as far as I know), but that could change. It usually does.
Good Eats Roast Turkey (brined all night in the basement; at 24 pounds, he's a big one)
Crock Pot Stuffing (a mixture of browned sausage, three kinds of breads, and apples)
Party Potatoes with All-Purpose Gravy (my version of mashed potatoes, but easier)
Sagaponek Corn Pudding (from the Barefoot Contessa)
Roasted Winter Vegetables (also from the Barefoot Contessa, with roasted butternut squash, carrots, sweet potatoes & parsnips. Leftovers will be used in a bisque on Friday, if there are any leftovers.)
My Mom's Cranberry Relish (cranberries, apples, and oranges)
Freezer Cabbage (a pickled cabbage that can be frozen)
Praline Pumpkin Pie or Maple Pumpkin Pie - I haven't decided yet, but am leaning toward the maple one
Black Bottom Peanut Butter Pie (a chocolate bottom with peanut butter filling. Yum)
Small Tray of Assorted Cookies (baked and in the freezer)
Sugared Pecans
Iced Tea and Coffee
Autumn Harvest Blush Wine (I have 3 bottles....it's really good stuff)
It's pretty much the same menu as last year. We are big on tradition for the holidays. What I like about this menu is that everything is make-ahead but the turkey. Once I get everything made on Wednesday night? It's just a matter of throwing the turkey into the Nesco roaster on Thursday morning, putting the stuffing together in the crock pot, and then timing it to put the side dishes in as we go. A quick reheat of the gravy and dinner will be served. Easy peasy. Dinner will be at 4:00.

My mom will be joining us for Thanksgiving. We will be having turkey breast, rice, caesar salad, stuffed eggs, sweet potatoes, rolls, cranberry sauce, and pie.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Since it is just the two of us I am having an oven suffer roaster with potatoes, stuffing, gravy, coleslaw, cranberry sauce and corn. I am also making a shrimp mold dip for someone else to serve at their Thanksgiving. We will have the turkey for Christmas. Right after Thanksgiving I have to empty all my bottom cabinets. My quartz countertops are being installed. My kitchen remodel should be finished for Christmas. Yipee! Then onto the laundry room and office.

Love it!
Spix, how do you do the asparagus? Always looking for new ideas there.

My SIL and I are doing it together. Her and her hubby are doing roast turkey breast, sweet potatoes and a green veggie.
I'm doing dressing, gravy, bread and pies (pumpkin, cherry and pecan), all my dear moms recipes that I learned helping her in the kitchen from the time I was big enough to stand on a chair at the counter and "stir" the pumpkin pie batter.

My Thanksgiving meal is going to be very basic, and stress free this year; turkey breast, homemade dressing, gravy, cranberry sauce, and pecan pie. My husband and daughters were asked individually what they wanted, and all 3 said the exact same thing, so that is all I am making. I have learned that if they don't mention it, they will not eat it, so I will not waste food just for the sake of saying I cooked it.
My girls will be up early to hunt, and will spend the majority of their day in the woods. Everyone will just eat when they are here and ready.
