For those interested:

I DM the woman on the other forum about the pictures she included in the thread. One of them is Brighton Beach the other 2 I don't remember but they did NOT include the photo that people here are discussing whether it is recent or not.

As for the beaches always being this crowded, she replied with yes but only over the past 5 years or so. Global warming has made England MUCH warmer and AC is not the norm. Her son is making a FORTUNE installing HVAC's in houses as he was one of the few who "saw the light" and chose that as a trade. Get this: he came to the US to learn and become certified to install and repair them. In the past, it was Americans or those from countries where the heat is repressive that demanded AC be installed in their homes. The joke of the community....no one is laughing now. The beaches are the only place to get relief. 

The average HOT day in England is 73 (in the Midlands we're looking at the high 60's for average summer days). It's been that way since keeping track of weather. Over the past 5 years, the temp has been in the high 90's to over a 100. Add in the lockdown and.....the beaches are being swarmed. She's SO upset, angry and just.....fed up with humanity.

@Foxxee  - I like your response about the dogs.  Yes, I'd love to be surrounded by dogs, but people - no way.  I like people, yes, but not in that capacity.

I don’t know about photos, but what is not fake are the Tweets by local officials irate at hundreds of thousands of people flooding the area, so bad there are traffic jams. They had to put in road closures. Local residents are angry.

@alicedee  I'm with you! I hate crowds. I have no problem staying away from people. You don't realize how antisocial you are until there's  a pandemic and your life doesn't really change all that much!

Yes, I've been airing out non-perishable store items for years.  On my porch, for about a day or so.

I've been baby-wiping them first (unscented).  And paper towel drying them.

Just in case of common colds, flu, etc. on surfaces.

Don't ask me why, it's what I've been doing.

I guess I've seen too many customers  who have colds handling items in the stores.  Especially in the produce dept.  But everywhere in the store, too.

I guess that's been my reasoning.

Well I can't believe for once I'm a little smarter than some.

I've never cared for the beach.  Every summer we'd go to Nags Head, North Carolina, rent a huge house with a pool and the whole bit.

I'd stay inside and only come out to take pictures.  But you know, even then there weren't that many people out on the beach.  My daughter just got back from Nags Head area today and said there weren't a lot of people on the beach.

How in the heck can it be fun squeezed on the beach (or anywhere for that matter)?

Can you imagine having to go to the bathroom, walking past that huge crowd just to go potty?  

The whole scene is just crazy.

I grew up in Southern California and spend most of my childhood and teen years on the beach at Newport and Corona 
Del Mar.  Loved the beach, the people and the smell of salt water and seaweed!  Have to admit it was never that crowded though.

@Annabellethecat66 : As I recently posted, I can't stand crowds either. When I was a small child in the early 50s before the polio vaccine, my mother would never let us go swimming in the park swimming pools in the afternoon during polio season because that's when it seemed that more kids came down with it. We would go to the beach though (I was born in Chicago and lived there til I was 26). North Ave, Montrose and Oak Street beaches were always packed like that. Nobody had air conditioning so many people headed to the lakeshore to cool off until 10 PM when the beaches closed. Finding a spot to put your blanket was a trip and it really was a pain to walk through all those people to go to the bathroom or the concession stand and the changing rooms were always crowded too. The O.P.'s picture really brought back memories!
