A regular meditation practice is a wonderful thing. You do have to be used to the routine before you need it.
My yoga class has a regular once a week focus. Or a prayer session can also work.
It can also help with pain and falling asleep.

. You know it's so strange since I've painted and made jewelry since college....for five decades and sold both. I'll give the big girl paper a shot. Thanks for the encouragement.
@Shanus You're welcome and congrats on you professional painting and jewelry careers! I went to art college and I'll tell you, sometimes I get intimidated by new art projects that I give myself and even new art mediums - so I can relate. Once we set aside some time and get started and believe in ourselves- we can adapt to any new art materials. You can do it! ![]()

Run, ride Peloton, do Peloton dance class...any physical activity releases stress for me. I feel like I've dumped 50 pounds when I'm done...soaked to the skin, exhausted, but refreshed. Nothing like a workout high

To calm down or feel better when stressed? My go to’s are:
Take a long hot bath
Watch a funny movie
Go to a scenic park and enjoy nature
Burn a lavender scented candle
Pray
If it's a *biggey*, I pace around my house and pray. That's numero uno.
I share whatever deep fear with my husband. He can handle me when something is off the charts.
As far as falling asleep, I watch what most would call *lame* TV. A Hazel episode called Dorothy's Birthday, or The Lucy Show with Carol Burnett and Lucy going to Palm Springs.
If I can't fall asleep during either of those shows, I will turn the TV off and pray, pray, pray.

I find that listening to music is very relaxing for me if I'm feeling stressed. I have tons of alibums and singles from the 60's and early 70's. That was my favorite time in the history of music.
I have a record player in my livingroom and I just put on an album and let my memories go back to that period of time. If i'm alone and no one can see me I'll just dance around the room. My pets don't care if I look silly doing the Twist or The Pony.
My canary just hops on his perch and sings along with me.
Music has always played a big part in my life from childhood to adulthood.

There's an expression: "Don't sweat the small stuff." For the "big stuff" .......
What calms me down is knitting / crocheting / reading / praying / coloring books.
I have boxes and boxes of sweaters I made for myself, and I make afghans for charity. I put my stress to a good cause.
