To calm down or feel better when stressed? My go to’s are:
Take a long hot bath
Watch a funny movie
Go to a scenic park and enjoy nature
Burn a lavender scented candle
Pray

@Natureluvr Great forum topic and wonderful relaxation methods Smiley Happy

Here are my tried and true ways to relax and reduce stress:

-80's aerobics tape workout outs or lifting weights

-do my makeup and hair

-do a watercolor painting

-cook meals and bake desserts

-go for a long walk up and down hills and into different areas

-watch my favorite movies or tv shows

-water my houseplants

-put my feet into my heated robot foot massager machine

I reread a favorite book, I call it comfort reading.

@SportyShorty07 - Those are some great ideas too! I love the one about watercolor painting. I used to have a co-worker who did that as well. She said she wasn’t very good at it, but it gave her something to concentrate on and I thought some of her pictures were actually really good. I’ll have to look into that. It sounds pretty fun! 😀

@QVCkitty1 - I wish I were a reader! I’ve tried several times and just can’t get far enough into a book to continue. 😕

Going outside helps me stop thinking about things. When I'm walking in the park, or pushing a lawn mower, my mind is basically blank. When I'm sitting in church, or watching a movie, I find my mind kicks into gear and wanders a bit.

I wonder if you'd like reading a book series @Natureluvr . I find that stand- alone books are harder to read because of all the characters and destinations. However, once you learn the characters, it's easy to get immersed in a book series.

@AuntG - walking in the park is one of my favorites too. There’s a state park about five minutes from my house where I love to walk. It’s quiet and very few people go there but it has a nice walking trail. I love listening to all the birds and will often see deer if I go in the early morning or at dusk.

I’ve never tried to read a series, @AuntG. Maybe that would be better, that is if I can finish the first book. 😫😆

@Natureluvr Thank you! Your coworker made the right choice with water color painting- its a great way to concentrate and unwind.  I love to paint plants, fruits and vegetables and animals- I paint for myself and I do watercolor paintings as gifts for family Smiley Happy.  I really enjoy watching drops of water and paint turn into something pretty and the process of watercolor painting is so delicate and relaxing. I love it- I've done it for years and years.  Definitely give it a try- you can do it! Heart
