For things I can't shred, I have one of the inked rollers that blocks off the info you don't want broadcast in your trash. It works for me.

I would chop them up and put them in the garbage.

This is what I do with both papers and old credit cards. I thought I was unique in thinking up that idea. LOL
I have burned up 3 shredders and won't waste my money on another one.
I also tried those stamps and those don't work on different types of paper. I wasn't impressed with those either.
