I'm conflicted.
First, let me state I am a JT fan. He is an incredibly talented man, but this half-time performance did not rock my world. It appeared a bit chaotic and frenetic to me. I felt as if JT did not work hard enough to make it a stellar, cohesive performance.
In full disclosure and as a Minneapolis girl I would have preferred several artists dedicating their performances as a tribute to our homeboy Prince. We are fiercely loyal to his memory and what better opportunity to honor him. BUT NO HOLOGRAMS! Note: If you haven't seen Nicole Scherzinger and Matt Terry (a contestant on X Factor UK) sing Purple Rain I recommend watching on Youtube. Proof that one needn't have fame/name recognition to do Prince proud.
And in another full disclosure, Prince's 2007 half-time performance will always be my favorite.❤❤❤

The brief holigram of Prince was all that held my interest.

It was meh, just like everything else he does. He is more of an impersonator than a real musician.

As for the heart felt commercial yes it was the responders....And the comic one had to go to NY Giant players Eli Manning & Odell Beckham doing a take off on the movie "Dirty Dancing"...too funny......
The commercials were very boring and unimaginative...JMHO

I thought the halftime show was very boring .....one of the worst!

Awful,
JT - very lackluster, he looked like he could barely dance with any energy or sing with out breathing hard, wierd suit, hologram against Prince's wishes, his highlight was hugging a young boy - just wierd.
A real lowlight to a super highlight filled game.

I think Timberlake is a very multi-talented performer and deserves his accolades and awards. However, last night was a dance recital, and not a singing performance. He hardly sang anything, or the rumor about the mic's not working did him a major dis-service to him if he was. BTW, as someone who grew up attending dance school for 13yrs, I appreciate that particular talent but that was not what I think the viewers expected, including me. I wanted to hear him sing! I did love the fact he went into the audience though. It was incredibly unexpected in this day and age of performers, actors, etc. physically distancing themselves from fans because of security concerns, etc.

I read that he had dissed Prince in the past, so for him to use him in the show is kind of insulting.
JT is always riding everyone else's coattails and appropriating other styles. He has no originality. It's fine. I know not everyone is trailblazer or needs to be one, but he strikes me as someone who thinks he is way more talented than he really is.

It was horrible. It was a mess and the hologram of Prince was a disgrace.
I read an article that prince told Sheila E that he never wanted to be turned into a hologram. In the article she said she had conversations with Timberlake’s managers and she was assured that there would be no hologram. Princes family was also against it. I have no respect for Timberlake for not honoring these wishes.

@Suziepeach I respectfully disagree.... I thought that the acoustics over the tv seemed off, for whatever reasons. I'm not a huge JT fan, but I do like his music. Been a fan since the old N'Sync days. I was expecting at least one guest singer of some sort, perhaps even a couple of his former bandmates. I loved, loved, loved how he paid tribute to Prince; being a Minnesotan, I am a HUGE Prince fan, and really appreciated Justin's mini tribute. It was very touching, almost making me cry, honestly.
Justin's a tremendously talented person. I think he performed really well. He's quite the dancer. And for the record, I thought Prince's 2007 halftime show in Miami was THE best, ever. I mean, come on -- playing guitar, singing, and running around in the pouring rain??? A true master performer, he was. I can't forget the two female dancers he had... They pranced about in the rain in scary-high heels. It's a wonder no one got electrocuted or otherwise injured that day. My all-time favorite halftime show, for sure. Second would have to be Bruno Mars. There's snother amazing performer and gifted human being.
