What a Fun Night!

[ Edited ]

I am in town visiting family, and we gathered to have dinner at an old firehouse that has ben converted in to a restaurant.

This restaurant even had valet parking. I love valet parking! (Yes, I tipped the guy)

After dinner, we took in a Triple A baseball game. The home team lost, but for the 7th inning streatch, we all sang "G-d Bless America" and "Take Me Out to the Ballgame".

After the game there was a spectacular fireworks show.

My ears are still ringing from all of the noise tonight.

Tomorrow, we are going to get together for a bar-b-que and set off our own fireworks.

This is family that my dad and I don't get to see all that often, and my two cousins love their uncle like a father, because he helped to raise them.

They cherrish the time spent with him.

After the game, as we were making our way out of the park, I held my dad's hand to make sure that I didn't loose him, and it struck me just how much I missed holding his hand.

I think that I'll start doing that from now on.

Why I got away from it in the first place, I don't know.

But, it has been a loooooooong day.

Dad and I (well, *I*) drove 6 hours to visit with family, but it was worth it.

I was able to drive  those 6 hours and use only 9 1/2 gallons of gas, and still have only 1/4  tank left.

But, all in all, it was a great and fun day.

I deleted my message.

We had a new grand baby born and in my feelings of joyousness I shared the news and how my day had gone,  in addition to being happy for the OP.  It was not appropriate for me to do that because it wasn't about me. Perhaps another time -- another thread.

I appreciate the kind posters who hearted my message, though.  🙂

@Plaid Pants2

what a wonderful day it sounds like !

When you said you held your dads hand, and it reminded you of how you missed that......sure touched my heart.

I did the same thing with my dad (he's been gone for 9 years now) and I'm so glad I have those memories.

Thank you for sharing that (:

(sorry about the underline, don't know why it did that )

@Plaid Pants2, what a wonderful holiday you are having.  Enjoy every minute of it.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

@Plaid Pants2, I'm so glad you and your dad got to create such a wonderful memory. I hope someone took pictures. Yes, touch him whenever you can, I miss that.  I  am so envious of you, but thank you so much for sharing such a loveable time with family and most especially, your dad. Heart

@Plaid Pants2 That does sound like a wonderful time for your dad too.So nice to think about how it feels to hold the hand of a loved one.The memories of all of those years that you held on for safety and then as time went by for love and now once again for safety and love....full circle.

@Plaid Pants2  Take these sweet memories and lock them away in your heart and mind so that someday, when you need to, you can recollect what a sweet time this was.  You sound like a dear daughter and your dad is lucky.  Your dad sounds like a deserving dad and you are blessed.

I loved your thread.
