How would one poster take down all the board?
By reporting everything, hoping the mods will get tired of it and poof the place. Just keep changing nics and keep reporting.Wouldn't the mods be out of a job then? Also I thought the Q had a rule that if a person kept reporting posts, that person could be banned from the boards.
I suspect some are very cagey.....and use one of their many alters to hit the report button. I have slowly become an advocate for banning by IP address.
I think that might even get ME to behave!

This board take-down theory has been floating around for at least 4 years. All the talk about the editing, the poofing, the board closing, is just talk. Next we'll be hearing that posters are actually webbies too.
I've seen that theory already mentioned many times!
I don't buy it.
It's pretty obvious someone has a grudge with the edit/report button.

My account was suspended once, I had a conversation with the mods about why/what, etc. The strange thing was, they told me that a person could get banned for over using the reporting option. This did not apply to me since I have only reported 2 people in my forum life, and they were blatantly foul. Yet, they told me when they re-instated my account, that if I had a problem, I should report it. Seemed odd to me that a person can get banned for overusing the function, yet is encouraged to use it. I see no purpose in using it. If a poster is a trouble maker, it becomes obvious, no need to report them.

I did edit for spelling!
A poster had a thread saying the Q was taking down the boards & saying she agreed w taking them down. A week maybe 2 weeks ago.
Yup.
She seemed very sure & determined. It was weird.

I fully admit I've used report on some nights and weekends when either a troll was posting obscene things or a poster was making truly vile statments that I would not want to repeat. It was ridiculous because clearly no one was moderating it was was hours before it was taken down.

Jules...there is a difference between reporting an offensive post.......and reporting a post just because you don't like the poster or what she says.
Sometimes it is a fine line........and sometimes it is very, very obvious. Those people who push the report button when nothing that has been said even comes close to violating standards ....are the ones who should be banned.

I had a very strange experience on this board quite a while ago when everything was being poofed. So I started an innocuous thread about peanut butter sort of challenging the mod to find something wrong with that. Not only did the mod change my thread title, saying he or she could do anything he or she wanted with our threads, but the thread started becoming po rno grap hic, and no matter how many times I hit the advise button, it stayed up until the person in control took the whole thing off. I saw my thread title change several times. That's when I decided that webbies probably put all kinds of things on the threads under assumed identities and then they disappear to cover their backsides.

I'm sure that webbie is long gone and worked for a different company than the one presently monitoring the board. Think about it. They must have had some deranged nerd on a power trip working from his basement at the time.
