Re: What Foods are Going to be on your Passover Table?

So sorry xoxo and reiki, I remember celebrating the first Passover without my mom. It was rough. I'll probably do a spinach casserole, potato kugel, maybe some chicken for hubby and son, along with Sunny's matzoh crunch and an Israeli chocolate matzoh roll for dessert. I'll also have some fresh fruit and salad to ward off the dreaded Pesach abdominal pucker.

Thank you shamalamadingdong. I saw a chocolate sedar plate at the store today but smacked my own hand away when reaching for it.

I just koshered my oven and scrubbed the kitchen to make it ready. Now the preparation and cooking begins!

I am not of this faith so don't know what koshered an oven means. Just curious.

Koshering the oven means a serous deep clean of the oven, racks, knobs, burners etc. to remove any traces of food that has been cooked in it that may have not been kosher. Since I do not keep a kosher home this is done for Passover when all remnants of non Passover foods (chumetz) must be removed. There are more rituals that are done but this is a simple explanation.

Thanks for the reply reiki. I love hearing about different traditions and foods others share and enjoy.

To those of you that are interested in making a DEELISH toffee candy, here is the recipe for Toffee Matzoh Crunch. It's very simple (step by step photo directions), and trust me when I tell you it's SOOO good!

ENJOY!

i am still oxox and reiki I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear mothers. As many of us know, the first holiday after our mothers are gone is terribly hard. It does get easier but I have to admit it does take time.

I felt the best way to honor my mother was to try to do the best I could. I knew there were certain foods my mother made that I could never duplicate, so we had to come up with some new traditions mixed in with the old. That is what our children will remember.

I wish you all a beautiful, sweet holiday xox
