Hi. Yes, I read it & enjoyed it. I know that's not a very detailed reply, but I'd hate to tell you too much. I'm assuming you know it's a WWII epic-style book? And there's a mystery involved, too. I found it pretty engrossing.

I gave up on it after about 100 pages. I'll have to give it another try.

There were moments in this book that I found a tad tedious at times, but in all, I found it fairly engrossing.

Reading one of the early Inspector Gamache books by Louise Penny; I thought a trip to Three Pines would be a good antidote to the dystopian novel I've been listening to, Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel. It's not as dreary as some of these end of the world books can be but it's still a bit of a downer during the holiday season: After a pandemic has killed off most of the population, a traveling acting/music troupe travels the great lakes region, performing for small settlements of survivors. The story goes back and forth between the time before the pandemic and after. The narrator is good (although she mispronounced Mackinac Bridge) but it's not a cheerful story by any means although it's extremely thought-provoking and makes me want to move to the country, grow crops and hoard food. There's a sub plot about the cult of celebrity and fame that is interesting.

I will finish this book but will switch to something a little more light hearted for my holiday meal prep listening this week and return to it later.

I read The Martian. I can't even pretend I understood most of the technical stuff but I really enjoyed the book.

I want to read it but I'm waiting to get it at the library or a lower price drop.

Yes, we read it for book club last month and all loved it. Very unusual story. Nominated as one of the top 5 books this year by National Book club.

I am currently reading THE ORENDA. Here is the storyline ...

I just finished Flesh and Blood by Patricia Cornwell. I love the Kay Scarpetta character, so I am always eager to jump into her life. The book was ok, IMO, but I had a hard time finishing it. It just didn't capture my interest that much. I hope others will enjoy it more.
