I'm now reading Chances Are by Christy Reece. This is another in her Last Chance Rescue (LCR) series.

Since I posted last:
The Mourning Hours by Paula Treick DeBoard. I really didn't care for the book. It was just too simple for me, and having lived in that area for over 50 years, I felt like she was just reading cities off a map instead of giving the reader a sense of really being there.
Where'd You Go Bernadette by Maria Semple was a quirky, fun read.
A Cold White Sun by Vicki Delany is the 6th in the Constable Molly Smith Series and they are getting kind of boring. Not sure I'll read any more.
The World According To Bertie by Alexander McCall Smith, the 4th in the 44 Scotland Street Series. I enjoyed this as much as the previous books. All the characters are like old friends.
Half Broken Things by Morag Joss was a wonderful surprise to me. It's a fascinating story. It was a little slow in the beginning, and then it draws you in more and more. I'll have to look up other books by this author. I'm pretty sure someone on this board recommended her because I don't think I would have searched her out on my own.

IMHO do not waste your time on the movie. I thought it was horrid and did not deserve all the awards. Many better stories concerning slavery.

That ALWAYS ruins a book for me!You can't help but like it. And it's true! That's the astounding part.
DON'T "Google" or look up anything about the book's true history until you are finished reading!
What book are you talking about?

I love stories involving time travel, and then tie that around one of the biggest mysteries of our time by such a good writer, it just couldn't miss.I am almost finished with 11/22/63, a Stephen King novel. Different from all his other books I have read, very character driven and absolutely un-put-downable. I do not want it to end.

ilovedaisies, May I suggest two books with time travel for you? The Little Book by Seldon Edwards and The Map of Time by Felix J. Palma.
The first concerns character (Harvard graduate Boston Brahmin in the 1960's) who because of a traumatic accident (head injury) finds himself in turn of the century (19th/20th) Vienna (the cultural center of Europe at the time) where he must avoid running into his Grandmother as a young woman and where he associates with many famous figures (Fraud, musicians) of the time, and learns the mystery surrounding his family fortune. He faces a few moral dilemmas for example: do you kill a child you encounter because you know what he becomes as a grown-up and the evil he unleashes?
The Map of Time is a romp through Victorian England with H. G. Wells investigating time travel and trying to stop events that would keep many pieces of great literature from ever being written. I was drawn to this by its very steampunk cover illustration and found it slightly mind-boggling.

I read GRACE by T. Greenwood and really loved it - it was absolutely heartbreaking in places but overall a really great read.
