Re: What Are You Reading --- July 2014

Just finished Into the Woods (nf) by Lynn Darling. Worst book I've read in a while. Boring, depressing and too verbose for me.

Onto Nora Robert's Shadow Spell.

Just started To Kingdom Come by Will Harris, a sequel to Some Danger Involved. Mysteries set in Victorian London with interesting characters, diabolical plot, and some humor. Good summer diversion. Short (less than 300 pages) quick fun books.

Mea Culpa. The author of these books is Will Thomas not Will Harris.

Waiting for Wednesday by Nicci French. I guess she wants to do a series as opposed to stand alone books. I've read all of them and not really feeling the characters. Although the other in the series was much better.

...I have so many books right now I don't know what to start next. I'm leaning towards One Plus One by Jojo Moyes, but I also have Among The Missing (Morag Joss), A Circle Of Wives (Alice LaPlante), The Lace Reader (Brunonia Barry) and Missing You (Harlan Coben).

Smokymtngal, love to hear what your thought of The Lace Reader when you're finished. I was so frustrated by the last sections of that book I literally threw it out when I was done. I had hoped it would be like The Physic Book of Deliverance Dane, which I loved, but I felt Brunonia Barry did not deliver on the promise of the beginning and middle.

I caved and ordered The Dead in their Vaulted Arches, even though I think it's overpriced.

I'm loving The Silkworm.

I pulled the bookmark on A Stranger in the Kingdom. It started off slow but I gave it a chance because I was enjoying it. Then it got slower, and then it got even s-l-o-w-e-r.

It's a big fat book and since I had second thoughts, I looked at the reviews on amazon and the general consensus was that the book didn't get anywhere until Chapter 14. Sorry but I don't have that kind of time to read until chapter 14 before I love a book.

I read A House of Glass by Sophie Littlefield. It was a page turner for sure; a story about a suburban family whose home is invaded by two thugs. There was a lot of action and I couldn't stop reading until I was done.

Now, I'm going to check what I'll read next. I want it to be a really good one!

Happy reading!

Just finished CUCKOO'S CALLING and I LOVED IT, Great story - had me hooked within the first chapter and couldn't stop reading. I know it's been out awhile but if you haven't read it I highly recommend it. As I said in my previous post I didn't care for THE SILKWORM but this one I loved!

I read Summer Rental by Mary Kay Andrews. It was an easy summer read that I took on vacation with me. Nothing spectacular-just something to pass the time. Looking forward to the next book that I chose. Hope it's a good one!

Lori, I thought you already read The Dead In Their Vaulted Arches! I'm anxious to know what you think when you finish it. I've read that the author is planning at least four more Flavia books.

Re: What Are You Reading --- July 2014

lovescats, I hope I get to The Lace Reader. It is renewable, so maybe. I have not read Our Picnics In The Sun, but I did read Half Broken Things (Morag Joss) and I thought that book was excellent. I will probably read Among The Missing next.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through One Plus One by Jojo Moyes. I really like it so far. I liked Me Before You but I think even people who didn't like that book might like this one. There was another of her books I read that I didn't like, but I don't even remember the name of it.
