Re: What Are You Reading --- July 2014

Smoky, I saw the other day that the next Flavia book will be out on March 10th, 2015. It is called "AS CHIMNEY SWEEPERS COME TO DUST."

Re: What Are You Reading --- July 2014

All the books I've read recently have been very good entries in their individual series: "TOP SECRET 21" (Janet Evanovich), "THE SILKWORM" (Robert Galbraith), "TERMINAL CITY" (Linda Fairstein), "BOOK CLUBBED" (Lorna Barrett), "THE CAT SITTER'S NINE LIVES" (Blaize Clement), "VERTIGO 42" (Martha Grimes), and "INVISIBLE" (James Patterson - a stand-alone book). I am half-way through "THE HEIST" (Daniel Silva) which is a little slow right now, and have Linda Castillo's latest Amish mystery, "THE DEAD WILL TELL" waiting in the wings. I've also been reading Susan Wittig Albert's China Bayles Herb Shop mysteries and Jessica Beck's Donut Shop mysteries, which make me hungry!

Dawg lover, you are such a prolific reader!

Thanks for the info on the next Flavia de Luce book. I'm really looking forward to what the future holds for her.

I haven't read the latest China Bayles. I think I've missed the last two or three. More to add to my list!

Well, I finished One Plus One by Jojo Moyes. Yes, it strains credulity. Yes, it's predictable. And I still enjoyed reading it. It was a nice root for the underdog kind of book.

I started reading The Paris Architect and Circle of Wives to see which one was going to capture my interest first. Still not sure.

I am half way through Breathing Lessons by Anne Tyler. It gets my vote for the most boring book I have read this year. I keep plugging away hoping it will get better. Well, it's better than taking Ambien. LOL.

Just finished a strange little book called LITTLE GIRL LOST - takes place in Ireland - about a young girl kidnapped and a younger girl found in the woods - lost. Interesting and well written. Writer is from Ireland and some of the verbiage used pertains to Ireland but I could follow the story.

I'm plugging away at The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon. As much as I have loved the previous books in the series and am looking forward to the rest of the books in the series, this installment has me stalled… I'm not giving up. I will persevere, even if it takes me the rest of the summer.

In the meantime, I'm also reading The Chance by Robyn Carr and I Want to Hold You Hand by Marie Force, both parts of romance series that I quite like.

I read Dead Madonna by Victoria Houston. This is one in a series of murder mysteries that take place in northern Wisconsin. She is not the best writer in the world but I like to read her books because the area she writes about is a place that we visit each summer. Even though she changes the names of some places you can often guess what she is referring to if you are familiar with the area. The books are quick fun reads. And if you like fishing there are lots of references to both fly and sport fishing.
