Re: What Are You Reading --- January 2015

I finished Tell The Wolves I'm Home. The characters never did resonate with me.

Also finished Moriarty. The author thought he was so clever. I say skip it.

Then I finally finished All The Light you Cannot See. It's a beautifully written, extraordinary book. It deserves all the praise it's getting. I know it took me a while to get into it (and too deeply reminded me of my parent's experience in Germany during the war) but in the end it is a very realistic and deeply moving story.

Trying to decide what to read next, and in the meantime I started one of my free kindle books, The Secret Adversary, a Tommy and Tuppence story, by that grande dame of mystery, Agatha Christie.

I finished The Outcast Dead. Another fast paced great (mystery) read by Elly Griffiths.

Now I'm reading and loving The Rosie Project by Graeme Simision. Did I read about this delightful novel here? It may have been a rec. of LibraryThing website where I catalog and list my books.

I finished "The Burgess Boys" by Elizabeth Strout and as you said, Sweet, it was not good at all. I can't even believe Strout could write a book I dislike so much. Even the most likeable of characters was not rootable and the rest were miseries. I loved her other three, "Olive Kitteridge" is one of my favorite books of all time.

I'm about to start "The Art Forger" by B.A. (Barbara) Shapiro. It's a novel about the greatest art theft of all time, which occurred at Boston's Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (a truly lovely place; I've been there before the theft, and since). And it's about art forgery in general and a woman who is asked to forge a Degas. Many reviewers say it's a fast-paced read. Has anyone here read it?

I disliked Olive Kitteridge just as much. LOL.

As for The Art Forger, I couldn't finish that one either. LOL.

My bad - when I thought about the book I did not remember the abuse - I just remember it made an impression on me and I was glad I read it.

Just finished DESPERATE by DANIEL PALMER. I thought it was good - not outstanding. The story was interesting but pretty incredible.
