Re: What Are You Reading --- February 2014

Ii'm reading Motherland by Maria Hummel about a German doctor and his family during World War II in Germany. So far it's very good and reminds me of The Book Thief and that's a good thing.

Re: What Are You Reading --- February 2014

Just started The Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan. Not far enough in to recommend or condemn yet. Let's just say I wouldn't put it on my Kindle for my next cruise.

Summer 1914. Newlyweds returning to America to escape war in Europe. Ship mysteriously blows up and husband sacrifices his place to secure a seat on an already overcrowded lifeboat for his wife. "For any to live, some must die". Narrated by the wife.

Re: What Are You Reading --- February 2014

I've been on a bit of a nonfiction kick lately.

Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War (Robert Gates)...interesting and well written.

Murder in the Yoga Store (Peter Ross Range)...quite a story!!

Currently reading (download) Stop Drifting, Start Rowing (Roz Savage) about the author rowing 8,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean alone...love a story like this!

And (good old-fashioned paper and ink) Things That Matter: Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes and Politics (Charles Krauthammer)...a collection of his past columns. The man is brilliant!!

Sunny, earlier you mentioned Anna Quindlen's Still Life With Bread Crumbs. I hope you've had a chance to read it. I LOVED it!!

Lainey...thanks as always for this thread. Happy reading! Hope to see you next month. Smile

hi esmerelda, yes I did start Still Life with Bread Crumbs but I only read a little bit and it was way overdue from the library so I returned it. I'm back on the waiting list so when it comes in I'll be sure to get it. I really enjoyed what I read. Glad you enjoyed it!
