On 4/13/2015 number one queen said: DiAnne, Halen Coben's novels are pretty tame, the ones I've read are really good. He is a keeper!
Thanks! I will try another one.

I finished Winter At The Door by Sarah Graves. This is the first in her Lizzie Snow homicide detective series. She has written the Home Repair is Homicide series previously. I never read any of those. I liked this book. It's kind of vanilla, but I like the character, and it shows promise to turn into a good series. I like that it wasn't gruesome, gory or graphic.
I'm now reading The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion. I loved the first one. I know most people have said they like it but not as much as The Rosie Project.

I liked Girl Under Water. Not fond of the writing style because I don't like back and forth stuff-you know, going back to the past, then we're back in the present. Anyway, a plane crashes and the only survivors in the Rocky Mountains are a girl, a guy (college age) and three little boys. I like survival tales so I enjoyed this. The guy and girl are on a swim team and they crash near a lake-in blizzard conditions. Keeps ya reading!

Just finished The Girl on the Train. Was underwhelmed. Not sure why this is a best seller. Figured out who the baddie was about 1/2 through so there was only one surprise at the end. Found all the characters extremely unlikable and the writing was just so-so. All the women had the same "voice". (I appreciate when an author can make each character distinctive by varying the sentence structure of their narratives).
Ok, I wasn't expecting great literature but 't it hadn't been the book club selection, I would have PTB.

I didn't like it or her or anyone. I PTB not even half way thru knowing this was not for me. Too many good books out there.

Thankless in Death by JD Robb. Need a Roarke fix.

I just finished He's Gone by Deb Caletti. I really enjoyed this book. Below is the library synopsis.

I am reading a really good thriller called White Plague by James Abel. Not quite finished but it is surely holding my interest. Since I haven't found much to peak my interest lately, this book has made me happy.

I am reading an amazing nonfiction book, "We're Not Leaving: 9/11 Responders Tell Their Stories of Courage, Sacrifice and Renewal" by Benjamin Luft. It is inspiring, sad and very personal to each responder so even if you think you know all you need to know about 9/11, there is a lot to be learned in these pages, and I can't even express adequately how much I admire all of those who tell their stories here.
