If you have one on your lap top, are you concerned that someone might see you posting here? How does that work.

I don't have a web cam. I wouldn't know how to use if I did.

Nor do I. No one needs my ugly 'mug' on their computer screen.

The kids put a band aid over my web cam. They were paranoid, they read something on the net, lol. So...you can't see me. Ha.

On Shark Tank a couple of weeks ago there was a guy who developed a small plastic device that clips over the ""camera"" at the top of a lap top. One of the ""sharks"" who specializes in computers said it is a very real issue. None of the sharks were interested in the gadget.
I like the idea of the band aid.

I have a clip on light that I position over the webcam. Even though I do not have it activated I"ve read of several ways hackers can access a webcam, turn off the indicator light so you wouldn't know it was on and even activate one that is turned off.

You put the gauze part of the band aid on the lens then it doesn't get all gunked up with the sticky stuff so you can still use it when/if you want to. That's why they used the band aid instead of just duct or electrical tape.

I had no idea I had a webcam until suddenly my picture appeared on my screen.
It said I was being investigated by the FBI for child P*rn, animal abuse and other crimes. My incriminating evidence was attached (actually work related files). I was told to go to Walmart, get a $350 gift certificate and send the money...my computer would be unlocked and I wouldn't go to jail.
Boy, was I scared. and Boy, the picture was VERY unflattering!!!!!
It turns out this is something hackers are doing from outside the USA. Their program takes a pic of you, using your own webcam, to make it look official.

OMG!
That is frightening! I had my mini camera covered and it fell off, I'm going to cover it now!
