Hotel Reviews/ Recommendations In or Around Chicago Please

Hi all. We will be going to Chicago early April for vacation. We will have a rental car so don't mind driving some. Somewhere not too pricey? Thank you, Q.

I don't know but I think all Hotels in Chicago would be pricey. I have stayed at the Hyatt Regency at O'Hare and it was VERY nice.

qvc, Try Trip Advisor, a website. If you type in Chicago, IL hotels, they will list them in order of their ratings by thousands of Trip Advisor reviewers. It's a good way to find a moderate hotel that seems to please most travellers.

I stayed at the Monaco, a Kimpton hotel, which is in the Loop sort of near everything, in late summer 2012. It wasn't a fancy hotel, but I really enjoyed it. They will put a goldfish in your room if you ask for one. There's coffee in the AM and a wine reception in the PM. Tiny, tiny rooms but they have windowseats. I was there for a business meeting at a special rate, but I think the price is fairly reasonable for the area. Kimpton hotels are known for being a little quirky. ETA: I just looked, and their parking is quite a bit. Perhaps you'd do better with a hotel in the suburbs as far as parking your car.

If you should decide on a Kimpton hotel, join their free loyalty program and they provide a $10 credit at the minibar, free wifi, and sometimes a "welcome" gift. I've stayed at the one in Boston near the TD stadium, too. It might be that one that has the really tiny rooms, but it was nice, too.
