@cherry, one of my classmates was drafted at a young age. I will never forget the picture he sent home of him sitting on a tank looking so cocky -- like the kid that he was. What a great smile he had. He was killed the next day.

 

I honor all who served by fervently wishing that we always do all in our power to avoid such tragedies, that old men will remember what destruction it causes to a generation,-- to people worldwide -- and think twice ( or much more) before sending ours into battle.

i am proud to be an American.  I am proud of our American flag.  It flies right now outside, In front of our house.  It flies beautifully and proudly.

Dad survived WW2 with horrible PTSD. FIL survived Korea. Brother and three bro-in-laws made it through VietNam, one with PTSD. Agree with poster who expressed we must do our utmost to keep our young treasures out of harm's way, if at all possible. 

 

Attended symphony program at botanical garden today. When they played songs from military branches, and women and men who served in those branches humbly stood, it tugs at my heartstrings every time.
