O/P might want to file a police report, so they will be on the alert. Possibly it's been happening all around your neighborhood.

I like Fed- Ex because I could sign for the packages if I want to. And I do want to. I wish that UPS would go back to having us sign for the packages instead of just leaving them by the door.

On our local news today, just such a crime was reported. Fortunately, the home owner had installed an outdoor video cam and the woman and her car were recorded. It is just a matter of time before she is turned in. The home owner had a package taken by that woman which was supposed to be for his daughter who was going to be married soon and it was a to be part of a gift he had sent for her. Such brazenness by people.

UPS still requires signatures for some packages. It depends on the service requested and paid for by the sender. I think that's the way it's always been.

Fed-Ex drops off packages at my door, no signature required. I think it depends on what you've ordered, if a signature is required. When my daughter was getting medicine delivered by UPS, a signature was required, but we knew that ahead of time and we end up picking it up at the UPS center about 10 minutes from my house.

Sounds like you're doing the right thing to have UPS hold your packages for pickup. Unfortunately, it sounds like someone with "sticky fingers" has noticed that you have frequent deliveries and is looting your doorstep. Sorry about this.

Exactly. One cannot blame the shipping company because the services are those that the sender purchased. Usually, I've had a parcel come 'sig required' if it was a computer or iPod, or something else expensive. But that was because the sender paid for that service.
Also, if you are keeping track of parcels on the shipper website you will see what has sig required because it's designated on the tracking page. That might help to not only know what is coming on what given day, but you can be available to pick up the ones that are dropped. I always know on what days I have parcels coming and this is so that I don't have to worry about them sitting out there for extended periods.
