Watch your packages from ups carefully....

Hi all, very upset, I have had 4 packages stolen or delivered to a wrong address. I was away for 3 weeks,(husband was home) and when i got home I was missing 2 packages. At the same time i received a package that was not mine. QVC customer service was great about it, but 2 of the items aren't available anymore. I had ups pick up the package that was not mine and re-deliver it to the right address. (my husband did not notice it was not mine). Well guess what, today i was out and came home about 3:30 or so and I got an e-mail saying 2 packages are at my front door, from ups, and NO PACKAGES!!! The ups e-mail said delivered at 2;30, I am so upset, I am doing a lot of christmas shopping and bought a lot of christmas decorations lately. From now on I am having my things held for pick-up at ups center. I have been shopping for over 20 years and never had this happen like this! i did notice I had some adds in my door handle, so they might have been taken by someone delivering them. I hate to think it might ave been one of my neighbors, but you never know. So be careful about packages at this time of year!

Re: Watch your packages from ups carefully....

I'm sorry this happened to you. Whenever I'm expecting a UPS package I get the tracking number and follow the progress online. On the day that it's to be delivered, I make a point of staying home until it has arrived. I have seen various items on the morning news from time to time that films someone stealing a package left on a doorstep, so I know it happens. I'm retired, and I realize not everyone has the option of staying at home, so having your packages held for pickup is a good idea. Or if you have a work address you can have them sent there, which is what I would do if I were still working.

Sorry you had this problem, I mean problems with your packages.

Where we live all the ones that deliver to our home know where to put the package where nobody would dare venture to try to "remove/steal" them. We live in a rural, but remote type area, and unless a person(s)have been in this particular area? They wouldn't even know their were homes buried in this treed off area.

And should I be sitting home and someone dare to do this? Chances are better that they would be carried away as opposed to walking away.

Last year weren't there cars following the ups trucks and picking up packages that they had just delivered?

This all goes to the mentality of I don't have and you do so I can take what is yours.

Re: Watch your packages from ups carefully....

That sounds like a real mess... I hope you get it straightened out.

My UPS packages are always delivered in the late afternoon or early evening, and the UPS man rings my doorbell and leaves them on my porch. I live in a very safe neighborhood where we've never had any crime, and I'm usually at home at that time so I can just go out and pick them up. (Although there are some people on occasion walking through that I don't know.) I was watching for the two packages with the Christmas decorations I had ordered, and it showed they had shipped on the 28th. They usually take two days to arrive. It was around 9:00 pm when I checked the order status to see if they would probably be delivered the next day (which would have been 2 days), and it said they had already been delivered, in only one day! And sure enough, there they were on my porch!

Apparently it must have been a different delivery person, because I don't understand why, if my car was in the carport and lights were on in the house, why he would not at least have rung the doorbell?

Thankfully, I probably won't order anything else during the holiday season, so I won't be worried if they could get stolen. It was raining that evening and night, and if they had stayed where he put them on my porch they could have gotten very wet from blowing rain, and one box had the set of 3 owls. I don't think I would have wanted poor little wet owls! {#emotions_dlg.unsure}

I always have a neighbor taking care of our house when we are away. She puts our mail, paper, and packages in the house. That is a huge help.

I did see a news story about a woman that drove around loading up people's packages. She was arrested. I know it's happened more than once.

Re: Watch your packages from ups carefully....

Hi all, I am still very upset, like I said i am picking up my packages from the ups center now from now on. i can't get over the feeling my house might be watched for delivery's. i do have new neighbors on one side who are not very sociable, and they are home a lot. Oh well, I will probably never know what happened, but I do feel bad. On the plus side they are only things, and I have 3 happy healthy dogs who mean the world to me.
