Re: Washer and Dryer Question?

We recently moved and the appliances in the new house were from the 90's. A bearing was going on the washer and it sounded like we were going to blast off to the moon everytime I used it. We replaced with Maytag. We had the same in the old house and they are fabulous! Never ever have had a problem with them. Matched set.

My set is over 30 years old, good old reliable Kenmore! Just last week the timer knob broke on the washer. But, that was an easy fix; the replacement knob came in 1 day.

I did wonder if it was time to get a new washer. And I did wonder if I would be happy with an unmatched set.

@Annabellethecat66- I know what you mean! DH can fix anything! Way more intricate than to replace a knob!

dont give up that Kenmore!!!!!!

I had to let mine go, now I have a stupid machine with that f-----g lid lock, cant soak anything unless I unplug it

It would depend on how old the appliance that was still working was.  I recently replaced my front loading washing machine, which I had bought with the matching dryer about 5 years ago.  I hated that washer and replaced it with a deep fill top loader.   I thought about buying a matching set, but the dryer still worked perfectly.   If the set had been older, I may have replaced them both.   In my experience, the dryer always outlasts the washer.

@lavenderfields   May I ask what brand of top loading washer did you buy?  Will it allow you to fill and soak a load of laundry?  TIA

I bought a Maytag Commercial.  Model number is MVWP575GW1.  It does have a Presoak option and a Presoak and Extra Rinse option.  I haven't used it yet, but you could probably find out more about it on Maytag's website.
