WalMart is a low end store, with low end pay, low end prices and low end bags.

You get what you pay for, bags included

Bring your own bags. It’s a win win for the environment and for you

I've never been to a Walmart like that.  However, if I had a car, I'd drive to nice big one or shop at some other store.  We have relatives who live in small towns too but they don't restrict themselves to whatever is available.  They have cars and trucks so they use them. If you don't have a car, perhaps you should make arrangements with a neighbor to drive you a decent store once or twice a month.

I did and complained about their shopping carts. They were soOOO old and very hard to push. We now have new carts!

That is so encouraging! That is just what ours needs. As I was trying to wrangle one out of the line and one that worked, another woman said-we sure do need new carts.

Also those plastic bags. Our Walmart changed from the grey ones to these thin white ones that wouldn't open.

So all the people on the self-serve which I always use now, were taking several minutes just to open the bags! The employees said they hated them too.

A few weeks later, they were gone.

“...low end bags”??

Giggle

I would never degrade a big-box store, like Walmart.

They have the same goods & merchandise as any big-box store.

And more likely, many people depend on this store in their community.

@sidsmom

See the original post and others-the bags used at check out are not sturdy and tend to rip.

Using more bags may be a solution, packing them lightly, but that means more plastic leaving the store and ending up who knows where.

@SilleeMee I absolutely love Walmart and shop in the store and online about 6 times a month, but I do hate the shopping carts. Ours are old and hard to push also. This is one reason I love Target, their carts are the best.

@sidsmom   She's referring to the bags used at check out, not hand bags.

I know that she was referring to the plastic checkout bags....

and I stand behind my giggle.

It’s a stretch to pick on the grocery bags...like what does that

have to do with anything?  Again, use reusable bags...

which we should be doing on a regular basis, anyway.

I'm convinced Shoprite special orders them with holes already in the bottom of them!  They can't be reused for messy garbage.

Yes!  That's what I use them for a lot, too, and have to try to find one with no holes.  I used to not keep them if it had a hole, but now I'd be keeping hardly any at all if I did that.

Reporting to the manager doesn't do any good. I reported a dirty, filthy bathroom and nothing happened.

I reported that someone had peed on the floor in the change room and they didn’t do anything about that either.I stepped in it and got my feet wet before I noticed although the room did smell bad.

Walmart should be sued for false advertising.  Its commercials depict a beautiful store that's clean and orderly with happy, friendly employees - in short, a place where anyone would want to shop.  The reality is however much different - in short, a place you can't wait to escape.
