Thank you Everyone! I've never shopped at any Walmart much -- then I started doing all my Dad's shopping during the pandemic. He insists on my buying all his groceries, etc., at the Walmart Neighborhood Market down the block. So far I'm very happy with the curbside pickup option. They send my substitutions to me in email and I can either "accept" or "decline" any substitutions prior to pickup - I love that! I don't order online from Walmart - but I'm thinking about it.
I get my gas at Kroger and get 20-cents or more off per gallon - so doubt I'd ever use Walmart's gas discount.
I appreciate hearing what you all have to say. Like I said, I've never been a regular Walmart shopper until recently and wondered if there was a way to save time and money.
Thank you.

@tototwo grocery delivery to the home would be a plus for me as well as being able to order anything online with free shipping. Sometimes, I just want or need a $10-$15 item that is not sold in the store, so I have to add on unnecessary things to get the free shipping--things I will use but not needed at the time. That being said, a person is expected to tip the grocery delivery person no matter what service you use--Wal-Mart -plus, Door Dash, Instacart, etc. Weekly tipping would really add up, so there is no way that I would use the service unless I had a physical challenge.
I do use their Pickup option almost exclusively for my groceries and LOVE that. I'm fortunate that most of my shoppers do a great job, and now when you get notfified that there are substitutions ready for review, you can reject substitutions online. After you've placed your order, you can also go online, click on your order, and you can select what substitutions for each item you would accept. The process gets better and better all the time!

@Ainhisg -- that's exactly how I'm thinking. I would definitely have groceries delivered to the house if it was free. And if I need to order online, I don't want to have to order at least $35 worth to get free shipping. But would those 2 things really make Walmart+ worth the money for me? I appreciate your comments.
Walmart's curbside pickup is sooooo much more efficient than Kroger's. I'm thinking of switching all my shopping to Walmart.

@PickyPicky3 I agree about card.Had mine forever. Just recently used points to pay over $200 in purchases!
I can easily rack up $35 free shipping.Got one coming today. Cat litter, cat food,batteries,3M hooks,TP,etc.
Can't see much different paying the $98 thou.
We have a gas station at the neighborhood market. They used to give 5cent off at pump with card but just do a percentage on your statement now.
I get a gift card & keep money on it cause if you use at pump ,you get 3cent off.Love to see that price roll back.lol

@tototwo another thing to know about Wal-Mart pickup. You probably already know this, but if you don't, I did want to mention it. If you get an item you don't like, or is damaged, or the fresh fruit or vegetable does not meet your approval, you go online, select your order, start a "return," click on the item, choose from a menu what is wrong with it, and you get an instant refund on the item. No need to return anything to the store!
One time, I accidentally ordered the wrong size of copy paper. That one was totally on me, so I did need to return it to the store. I couldn't find any way to print the receipt online as I had not received my email receipt, yet. So I put it back into a WM bag that had my name/info on it and took it to the CS desk. He was able to use the info on the bag to give me my refund.
There have been a few times that they've been out of something or I've discovered a damaged product when I got home that has caused me to make a trip to a locally-owned grocery store to get what I needed. I used to find that kind of aggravating when I first started using the service early last year (because of the pandemic), but now...I know that that situation is a possibility although a rare one. The benefits of the service far outweigh the negative aspects of it! So much time saved and love being able to compare like items easily online. Love being able to get items in my order from every part of the store. I've ordered a broom, an indoor TV antenna, copy paper, file folders, and numerous other things. One time, I saw them bring out a huge TV for someone! So nice not to have to traipse all over the store!
Also...this may be happening only in some areas of the country, but my app doesn't work 75% of the time. It will let me check in, but then it won't recognize that I'm at the pickup spot and continually moves my arrival time forward. If that should happen to you or anyone reading this post, as soon as you realize that the app's not going to complete the check-in process, just call the number on the sign in front of your parking space, and someone will answer almost immediately. You tell them you're there for grocery pickup, and they'll do the rest.

Great information, @Ainhisg. They always put my receipt in my bags - I've never had to look for a receipt online. So far I haven't had any problems that I needed to return. (knock on wood!)

I prefer not to use W+. I'm happy with their curbside pickup service instead. Out of the dozens of times I've gone to get my stuff that way, only twice has my order been incorrect with some extra things which I did not order, or was charged for. Never has my order been shorted...things which were ordered and not rcd has never occurred. It's been a good experience overall.

W+ has a $35 minimum for free delivery for grocery and other items. The free shipping, no minimum applies to items on Walmart-dot-com, not Marketplace items, and also excludes oversized and freight items.
The delivery service isn't available in my area, but I wouldn't buy a membership anyway because I don't get grocery deliveries, period, and I usually have no problem meeting a $35 minimum order for free shipping on packaged goods and other products from the website. I also often have items from Marketplace sellers in my order.
I believe Walmart has overpriced the membership. Amazon offers a lot more for about the same $.

@tototwo well, how interesting is that! I have never gotten a paper receipt in the bag! lol It's always just sent to me by email, and I don't remember ever making the choice to have that done, as I prefer a paper receipt. I will have to investigate their website to see if I can change a setting in order to receive a paper receipt.

I chose Instacart for my grocery delivery since I never liked shopping for my full weekly grocery at Walmart before the pandemic---their produce slection is awful and very limited, so is their deli selection .....bakery items arent that great either...
Instacart here partners with HEB groceries which demands excellence---Love the APP easy to use. The shoppers always ask regarding a substitute if your first choice isnt available....they take a photo of whats is available on the shelf and let you approve or go with a refund, Ive always had good communication with my shoppers, the delivery is fast.... I signed up for the yearly service $99 a year works out to around $10 a month, tips are optional, more so than a tip, mostly the shoppers ask for a 5 star rating (they get a bonus if they get that) and I find it easy to get to $35 .....it just takes Tide Laundry Detergent and a 25 lb container of cat litter, or something else I can stock up on and wont have to order for awhile...But mostly I just do my weekly grocery shopping with them and 90% of the time they have all the items on my list....
One time my coffee pot died, and after checking Target, Walmart, and other options HEB even had the best price for the brand I like and beat the competitors.....
