@Katcat1  - Your post said your cashier stole your card, but then you said you're not sure if they caught who did it.  So how do you know it's the cashier?

@San Antonio Gal    When I shopped in the store at Walmart, the cashier never got her hands on my credit card or had access to the number or my PIN.  I put the card in the little machine then back in my purse.  I don't think it's possible for one of their cashiers to steal your number.

I stopped years ago spending my money at Walmart. Checking myself out with a cart FULL of their stuff albeit groceries or other stuff is something I refuse to do. I don't get paid to do their work nor does the store offer a percentage off my bottom line for doing the work others got a paycheck for.

How dare they take away jobs from all the checkers they used to employ. I think it's quite a shame that such a large retain store treat their employees like this. Did they keep all of these employees and move them to other areas of their stores? I don't really know but I do hope so. We were never really Walmart regulars but I know many people are. The store we would go to is HUGE and had MANY checkout lanes with employees working them.

If Corporate Walmart thinks this is the right way to treat their employees, I do not need to shop at a place like this.

I feel the same way .... now I'm doing their employees' jobs?    Uh, no thanks.

What's next?   Are they going to make us help unload the trucks when shipments come in?

@PINKdogWOOD Lots of people in rural areas don't really have a choice not to shop at Walmart.

@Sooner   @PINKdogWOOD   Lots of people also don't have job opportunities with benefit and are delighted to work at Wal-Mart.  They are a major employer in many small towns.

If all that isn't bad enough she says "Hi Sweetie",  "how's your day going honey", "come back and see us now babe". On and on like that.

I'm glad that she's happy and must have a good all around attitude about the world in general, but, your at work not the disco and from the looks of you your dancing queen days are behind you.

I'll run to the self check out if I see she's working.

I heard straight from more than one employees' mouths that no one has lost jobs. They have relocated them to do the personal shopping for online pick up orders. They are called pickers. I buy a ton of groceries each week. Last week's haul was close to $200. I did it all online, and an employee brought it out to my car and loaded it into the vehicle. I have used their online pick up service since Covid, and I will never go back to shopping in a store for the majority of my groceries. I do occasionally buy some produce and most of our meat at a couple of locally owned stores, but those are small purchases that aren't difficult to check out myself or carry.

@Ainhisg  I always wonder why the Posters think that employees are losing their jobs. At my Stores there are at least two employees taking care of a self checkout line. Just left Walmart and there are at least 10 self checkout lines (new setup with new registers) and 7 cashiers checkout lines.

There are so many employees around, plus two greeters per door. I prefer self checkout because that is one less person touching my groceries.

I went to Publix a few days ago. Publix does not have self checkout. Anyway, a cashier was checking me out and she licked her finger to open the bag. Of course I said "no, no, no this is not going to work, don't do that to anyone else and I walked out and left the groceries. I was about to insert my Card when I saw what she did. That was so gross.

"Anyway, a cashier was checking me out and she licked her finger to open the way. "

@Sage04, What do you mean by "open the way"?

@tiny 2 - I think she meant open the bag.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@Katcat1 You blame Walmart for people stealing?  Therein lies a lot of the problem.

@Sooner  why do people think that their Card number is stolen at the last place they shop? Most of the time it has nothing to do with the Store. But yea, most blame Walmart.
