Re: Walmart + Subscription

[ Edited ]

I haven't ordered groceries from Walmart in awhile. Aren't there service fees in addition to the delivery fee and tip?

@Mz iMac.  The driver placed the bags at the front door and rang thre bell.  Since I'd chosen the time slot, I was expecting the delivery.

In my area, Walmart contracts with Grub Hub for their deliveries so tipping is expected.  Options are listed in the check out process which is where you leave the tip. I don't think Walmart employees ever make deliveries.

@Mindy D.  There are no service fees at Walmart.  They had a $49. Special annual fee for just a few days at the beginning of the month advertised on a banner on the website main page.  I happened to be thinking of paying the $98. fee so I jumped on the bargain price immediately.

        I dont' drive anymore and can't carry heavy items so I have the WalMart delivery person bring the bags just inside my front door. I pay a fee monthly but can order as many times as I want, so long as order is $35 or over..The tip is added on to each order. I haven't had any issues and really pleased with the service. I often get the same delivery people.

        I did not go for the Plus service, because the delivery hours were not specific...just morning or afternoon.  I want to know exaclty when to expect the order.

@Kachina624   @SouthernBee  @Mindy D  On my Walmart+ benefits list, the InHome program costs $40/year after a free 30-day trial. It says groceries are delivered to your home and put away by vetted Walmart employees who do not accept tips.

At $40/year, the service would be worth it just to save on tips.

my daughter has walmart + through her american express card for free, so i just use her account.

I too get my subscription through Amex but I drive for them as well and it's offered as a reward after certain metrics are achieved

@SydneyH

she is not a driver.

not sure which bank it is through, but they offered her some perks if she got the amex card through them and that was one of the perks.

American Express Platinum is the card that offers that benefit.

Amazon did this first back in 2017 with their 'Prime Access' membership, which can also be paid monthly or yearly.

@PickyPicky3 : Thank you. I checked and it's not available in my area yet. That could save a lot of money. I would prefer for them to bring everything in to my living room and let me put everything up - hopefully that could be an option.

There were places that refused to take American Express card though I don't know the reason. Is that still an issue? I've always had Visa or Mastercard, so I don't know how Amex works.

@teganslaw

have never had anyone who accepts credit cards refuse the american express card, although i do know that their fees to merchants are more than visa/mc/discover.
