It's a great service and each company that offers it does things slightly differently.  Several years ago before she had to give up and move into assisted living, a good friend used a service that shopped AND delivered to her condo.  She needed to avoid driving in the harsh winter weather.  Another used a home delivery service when she became too weak to shop.

Although I don't need the service yet, I fully expect I will.  I just hope that's all it takes to keep me independent for a little more time.  It's better in so many ways than any assisted living I've ever seen!

We have a fairly new Walmart in our town, I see they recently started offering the pick up service.  It must be very popular here because scheduled pickup times are not same day, must be at least the next day.  I wish all our grocery stores offered this service!

I've been using Walmart grocery shopping service since last October.  It was excellent the first few months but lately I've noticed a few mistakes.  They don't seem to have a lot of business so I'm wondering if it will continue.  I'll pick up my groceries at 2pm on Saturday and I'm the only person there. That ought to be the busiest time.

I buy my groceries that way also and I'm always the only one there.  I think this service is a bit slow getting started.

I've used WM and a couple of different major grocery stores offering this service. Seems like a lot of people try it, but it's not really a regular thing -- yet. Guess it's slow getting started.

So glad you have this offered, software, so you can put your energies elsewhere when you're not feeling well!  Hoping your health crisis resolves for you soon.

I'm not sure if our Walmart offers this yet, but it wouldn't surprise me.  When I lived in New Orleans, a small family market in our uptown neighborhood offered this service and I loved it.  I got delivery to my door, and that really helped if I was sick or very busy...   I felt pampered!

@Oznell  You can go to Walmart online and type in your zip code to see if it's available yet. That's what I've been doing, kind of keeping an eye on it. But we have ordered things (from Walmart) and had them sent to our home for free, so that was really nice!

Our local market is trying this, but with a service charge of $4.75, it seems to be flopping.  I'd rather have the groceries delivered right to my door.

I am in the southwest suburb of Chicago and Jewel has been doing this for years through Peapod.  I have not  used it but my aunt did after my uncle passed away.  Her adult daughter lived with her and they both worked.  She started it over 5 years ago and loves it.  They bring the groceries into her home and put them in the kitchen.  She's a pretty picky person and says the produce and meats she has ordered have met her expectations.

I have not tried it but my WM delivers to your door. I was told they charge you $10.

We don't have delivery or pickup service.  I double checked when i had cancer and couldn't go shopping.  I ended up having two friends do all my shopping.  It's just starting in the general area, but it's 1/2 hour away.  I didn't look, but imagine I'm out of the delivery range.  I can go now, but it's handy to know.

Re: Walmart Groceries

The only thing that's tricky is the produce.  They have units you order "1" doesn't mean one banana or potato; it means one pound.  If you order "4", you better like bananas because you're going to be eating a bunch.  At first they were picking the best produce for the pick-up customers, now that doesn't seem to be the case.  You can order meat but all I've gotten is frozen chicken and hamburger meat. They fill orders starting at 4am each day, so you put in your order the day before.

I can leave my house, pick up my groceries and be back home in 20 minutes.  The store is less than 1 mile away.
