Do you or anyone you know have one of this tubs where you open the door and walk in. My parents are getting to where they can not get in and out of tub but love a hot bath for aches and pains. Any info you could give me would help. How long for the water to come in and drain out? Hate to spend a lot of money if this isn't what they need. Thanks

I have a walkin tub. There are a few things to consider. When and if you decide on a tub, check on your homes hot water heater. I had to buy a much larger one to insure my tub fills with hot water to spare.. Some tubs come with high flow filler taps and my tub has 2 4 inch drains so the water goes out very quickly. I would look for a tub that has an air cleaning system that blows air through the water lines. This will cut down on "sludge" build up.  If not, I didn't get this feature, I run a product called Oh Yuck through it about every month or so. My tub has a temperature mixer on the hot water entering. It will only allow water at 1oo.2 degrees F to come in, so no worry of burning. My wife loves the tub - shes a senior and had a knee replacment. Anything else I can help with don't hesitate to ask.

I know some of those tubs have a very quick drain now -- maybe 2-3 minutes.  Who wants to sit there naked, shivering waiting for the water to drain.

I don't have personal experience but just from commercials can see it would take a *lot* more water to fill it.

I remember reading a commen somewhere from someone who had one and she said she got very chillled waiting for that big tub to fill up.
