Brutal ice with layers of snow on top.  Our University was open today.  It figured.  They are always open.  The other schools were closed.  I had to wear my cleats over my shoes.  Didn't dare drive.  Took the school shuttle the 2 miles to school.  The trip home took longer and harder.  We did close early.  Now raining very HARD!!!!  I still slid over the ice despite my cleats.  My husband was furious over me going today.  It's OK for him, but not for me.....

I like cold weather but don't like snow. I'm afraid of falling on snow and ice.   It looks pretty on the trees though.   Give me autumn weather all year round. Oh wait - it IS autumn, lol.

When we first moved here, we would grin at the folks wearing hats and mittens when it was in the 60's.

We still don't mind 60's and 50's but gone are the days running out without a coat in the 40's.

I don't miss driving back home but I do miss cross-country skiing and walking out and about when it would be a nice light snow fall.  Snowy days were meant for baking back then.

Try and sell cross-country skiis in Texas.  And really try to explain what "snow tires" are. lmao

Stay warm and safe, everyone.  I feel for ya!

My son left work 2 1/2 hours ago.He still isn’t home yet.Normally it takes him about an hour .DH & I are freaking out.Don’t want to text him cuz I don’t want to distract him.

We were only supposed to get rain here. There is at least 3-4 inches on the ground & it’s icey.

@NicksmomESQ......Hope he makes it home soon.  Yes, he is probably tied up in traffic.  Hope he was good on gas.  When it's that bad out there, you can always be sure they are tied up in the stop and go traffic.  No, not a good idea to text him.  He definitely doesn't need any distraction.

Here's wishing him well and it won't be long before he is home safe and sound.

@ShowMewrote: I don't ever remember when we have had snow this early.....and I've lived here since 1957.  Remember some Thanksgivings when it snowed.

Glad I don't have to be out too,

I agree, I don't remember having a 5" snowfall this early. I've been here all of my life. This was the biggest snow here since 2016 according to the news. I did not go out at all today, snow looks beautiful but I'm fine with that being the last one of the season. There were a lot of people sledding on Art Hill today, including channel 2 celebrities. I'm glad there were no power outages here, always my biggest fear. Stay safe

I know how you feel.  My DH is five hours late and no word from him either.  I can't call to check either.

He just called...he will be home in about 30 minutes.  I hope you hear from your son soon.

@Goodie2shoes.......I watched 4 at 4:00.  They said we did have a big one in 1991.....but I don't remember that.  I live in Affton, near Webster Groves......  and on chanel 4 they said we got 5 1/2 inches.  I believe that.

I too saw that on channel 2.  They were having fun.  Really, it was beutiful.

Yes, thank goodness no power outages.  It's all off the wires now.
