Re: WIGS FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN LADIES

@Katcat1, I had to laugh at the mention of Jennifer Hudson/wigs.  Hopefully, she's just modeling the wig, not selling.  Remember her clothing line on qvc?  Total flop.

As for me, I've had wigs for emergency purposes but I just can't be comfortable in a wig,  They itch and being a head sweater, I get so hot.  I have better luck with hairpieces.

@Mindy D The woman who originally questioned QVC about this topic posted her inquiry in the suggestion box section.  I believe it will fall on deaf ears though.

I was a consistent shopper for many years but my purchases have greatly declined over the years. I completed a survey that QVC sent me a year ago asking how they can do better.  I mentioned a lot of ways that they can do better including that they can try to appeal to their entire customer base.  I mentioned that they may argue that their customer base is mostly a certain type of customer.   That may be the case because when a group of people are underrepresented or not represented at all, they will spend their money elsewhere.  I respectfully went into great detail about this topic and won't do it again.

Thanks for the encouragment MindyD and others. Smiley Happy

@Latonya @I think that if Q thinks the prospect will make a decent profit for them they will try it. They need to be convinced of this.  I prodded QVC repeatedly for expanded plus sizes and they finally tried it out. Now, these sizes are selling out and more and more vendors are adding in the sizes as they become affordable for the companies to do so.

If you look at Leah, it's obvious that her look is popular. Keep on suggesting. Try it in the Suggestion Box and try it on FB or wherever you think of. Try suggesting it to a wig vendor that's already selling here. Just keep on saying it. Look for sales figures and trends from this category online and include some information in your posts.

@Mindy D QVC has been made aware of their excluding women of color for many, many years.  I responded to the survey they sent to me hoping it would make a difference but things remain the same.  Other customers have mentioned this more than I have.

My other purchases are almost nonexistent since Q has changed so much.  Prices, shipping costs, delays, return fees, etc.  It's not a big deal for me anymore but something that is mentioned because it needs to be.

Re clothing, I've suggested that they carry more tall clothing because there's no way of altering something that is too short.  Your plus suggestion was a hit for QVC and their customers so that's a win for both.

It IS about profit and what benefits QVC, which is why many of us choose to allow companies who represent our specific needs to profit from our money.

[ Edited ]

@Sooner I have bought from several AA wig sites.  Divatress is my go to.  Look up reviews for the sites if you wish.  I have even bought from low review sites and have been happy.

Then there are mixed race sites like Wigs.com and Vogue wigs.  They are good too.

Keep in mind I am a white customer looking for straight or wavy wigs.  I will say that AA sites give you more value for the money and there are so many generous girls on Youtube who demo them.

@KarenQVC Glad I asked!  More information shared is good!

@MmsfoxxieThere are lots of options nowadays.  100% Human hair and new types of fiber used for wearing wigs.  What is a hair piece?  Do you mean like a bun?

@gertrudecloset, yes, a hairpiece is an attachment of hair to the head like a bun or ponytail.

I guess we all have our preferences.  I would like to see more styles and textures in silver and or white hair. Usually there are few choices.

I don't think that it's an either-or @bonnielu. This thread just happens to be about wigs for women of color.

Did I miss the introduction of the Vivica Fox wigs?  I guess I did.

Anyone here try them?
