Re: WHITE SHOULDERS FRAGRANCE

[ Edited ]

@Spinach30 ~ I wore White Shoulders many years ago for quite some time.  I do like florals, but White Shoulders is a sweet and heavy scent, too much so for me now.  I remember W Mart  selling it in a tiny bottle along with many other scents (cologne/edp aisle), don't know if they still do, but it would be a great way to try it.  My new fav is B. Balenciaga Paris, a very pretty and interesting floral.

Hi, have any of you lovely ladies tried this fragrance or currently use it?  My husband said he really likes it and wants me to try it.  My comment to him is that it's such an old fragrance and I thought only older ladies wear it!  (I'm 58 - not a young chick - LOL).  If you use would love your insights as to how it smells.  I don't like super sweet fragrances.  I use Chanel now.  Thanks for your input!

Re: WHITE SHOULDERS FRAGRANCE

I got some a few yrs ago and sadly the scent HAS changed...All fragrance pretty much changed back in 2008 when the IFRA/EU banned certain natural ingredients.I did not like the new one and threw it out....It did not have that soft smooth floral scent that it had long ago,its strong and has a sharpness to it now.....It truly was a great fragrance at one time.

i never wore white shoulders, but I totally agree about all fragrances changing.  Along with the ingredient change, they use synthetic fragrances in most perfumes.  Especially the less expensive ones.

Re: WHITE SHOULDERS FRAGRANCE

I wore White Shouldrrs many years ago and loved the notes.  I purchased mine on Fifth Ave, NYC direct from Evyan.  The stuff they sell today smells cheap and heavy...nowhere near the original....I'm not even sure Evyan is around any longer.  I also loved Lauren and Tatiana as my favorites years back....today, I stick with my three other favorites that manage to smell pretty much the same....Fracas, Diorissmo and Cristalle....

Re: WHITE SHOULDERS FRAGRANCE

White Shoulders was the signature fragrance of my dear aunt who was born in 1908.  She passed 15 yrs ago.  I made many gift purchases of it for her.  I didn't know it was still around.  Brings back memories.

My mom used to wear it when I was a child. I used to like it then, but like Chanel no 5 it now seems overpowering and dated to me.

My mom wears it (age 81) and I hate it.  I really do.  I could never tell her that.  She only wears it for "good" thankfully.  I just deal with it.

Re: WHITE SHOULDERS FRAGRANCE

@Spinach30 OMG, flashback !! My mother wore this for as long as I can remember. It was lovely on her. I love floral fragrance, so maybe that's why I liked it, but it wasn't overly sweet, IMO. She wore it to church, so I'm guessing it was soft enough not to offend others. I started out wearing Chantilly when my fiance bought it for me when I was 19. It kind of had a similarity to white shoulders, so I guess it made me think of "home". Just my opinion, but I would try it if your dh likes it.

Re: WHITE SHOULDERS FRAGRANCE

So many of the older fragrances are now owned by companies that have nothing to do with the original perfumer. I've heard that White Shoulders is one of them. The new companies own the name and trademark but the way they manufacture the fragrance usually has little to do with the way it was made years ago. In fact it may even be made in China. And the fragrance of course doesn't smell the same as it did years ago. Rather sad, isn't it?
