@1Snickers , my sister has tinnitus, too. She sleeps with the TV on all night to help block it. No, I didn't wake the cat. He comes in my room every morning around the same time every day and either starts swatting me or getting into trouble and wakes me up because he wants his snack. It's almost like his has a built in alarm clock. He knows exactly when it's time for his canned food and will come and get me. Also, if I'm up in my loft watching TV, he comes up at 3:30 p.m. and visits with me until we go down stairs. No, this is something that has never happened to me before and probably never will again. Thanks, though, for the tip on what it could be.

Perhaps you were not fully awake.  You were between sleep and wake and it was a dream.

As usual, my cat Slick jumped up on the night stand early this morning and started knocking stuff around to get me out of bed. I yelled at him to knock it off. Right after that I distinctly heard a man's voice as if it was in the room say just maybe 3 words. I thought my alarm had gone off so I got out of bed and it was 4:08 a.m. and not time for the alarm to go off for awhile yet and it had not turned on. I don't remember what was said. It's very quiet in the neighborhood that time of day and didn't appear anyone was out and about. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Am I losing it?

It might not appeared that someone was outside, but I bet they were.  They usually speak softly, but it does carry.  It could have been someone by your house, under your window.  Either on your property or next door. Voices do carry.

Wow, obviously you were wide awake to yell at the cat.  That is kind of spooky!  Maybe like the others said, it was someone outside.  I know, where we are, noises bounce around like crazy.  Just be sure to keep doors and windows securely locked!  It would make me wonder too though.

That's what I was thinking, too.  And when you called out at your cat, you probably woke yourself up.

@catter70

Seems like the only other option was you were dreaming, woke suddenly, and something in the dream carried over into consiciousness but you didn't realize what had happened.

Or, as you say, you're just losing it.  LOL  Cat Very Happy

You said you heard a man's voice so I think someone was outside. If you have neighbors close by, it could have been one if them. Lots of people in our neighborhood leave for work very early.

@catter70 my guess, it was a dream.  I know I have woken up suddenly, gotten up, gone about my business and then, something weird happens, and I realize I am still in bed...

@1Snickers I have tinnitus too, maybe not as severe as you, but continuous, sometimes worse than others.  I use white noise or a fan to help me sleep, the TV on during the day.  Do you do these?  Does it help?

@NYCLatinaMe  Normally my tinnitus doesn't bother me, I try to ignore it. If I pay attention to it I always can  hear multiple sounds.
  If I don't have my hearing aide in and hear a strange noise I'll put it in and usually it's different. I read until I'm falling asleep and don't hear things when sleeping.
  My son was here and we walked after dinner. I didn't have my hearing aide in. When we were back at the house I asked him if he could hear a certain noise.
  He said he hears noises all the time. (He has tinnitus also). Then he smiled and showed me he was playing music from his I phone to his hearing aides!

@1Snickers My hearing is at the lowest range of "normal".  I had read with tinnitus a person could not use hearing aides.  But both you and your son wear them?  Do they work OK?  Interesting to me you hear so different noises.  I only hear a hissing sound, which is constant, but varies in tone and loudness.
