@Kachina624 wrote:@Shelbelle. When you find these ancient threads, notify the mods and they'll freeze them. I don't know why people don't just start a new one. Information from 9 years ago isn't relevant.
I asked them to not allow them to resurface in the first place, after a certain amount of time they should be purged.

I don't think anyone is referring to the long standing threads that are posted on every day like the ones you mentioned. Those are fine.
It's the ones that had nothing years ago and all of a sudden are resurrected. Some of the posters on the original thread are long gone.

I don't think that the long older continuous threads with on-going posts are a problem. I think the continuous threads should remain and not be forced to start over, especially those who have lost original posters but are on-going.

Maybe people are afraid to post something that may have already been posted and don't look that closely to see how old the thread is.
Or they are new people.
People criticize those who post something that's already been posted or there is a prior thread .

All of the old threads I've seen resurface are bumped up by new posters.
I think they start reading thru posts on a thread and pay no attention to how far back they've gone. They just find a post of interest and add their comment, with no idea they're resurrecting something long dead to the rest of us.

It doesn't bother me but I do know bumping old threads is against board policy. Interestingly enough the one about Josie bumped earlier today from 2014 could have been written today. For the most part the posts were still applicable. Some like the way she dresses. Others don't. Then of course the ones who don't are either haters or jealous of her looks. The more things change...

Just a thought. Some threads are repeated and are taken off. Perhaps the person or persons who posted feared the thread would be removed. Another thought, I went looking for information about something I needed help with. I saw an older thread and I simply answered for more advive. It was on Among Friends or perhaps Community Chat. I got good answers that actually solved my problem and allowed me to move forward with my situation about my car. Apparently my car issue went back as far 2014.

@bonnielu - I couldn't agree more! Many times I've bought a fashion item that was a TSV years ago, or a beauty set, or a food item, etc. The "older" threads are often filled with advice! I bought a food item and couldn't find advice on how to fix it. The online presentation didn't show it. The vendor's website didn't show it. But in an older thread my forum friends had discussed it and said how they fixed it! That helped me! ![]()

It's somewhat annoying. I don't read everything posted so I might be missing some. Last week I responded to something and then I noticed that it was years old. Someone resurrected it. I deleted my response.

Dont mean to offend anyone who likes it.
@Shelbelle This is a question about very old threads but not bothered by them at all just curious.
What comes to mind are the Pot Sticker Soup, Preds and Schmoo one tough cookie fighter threads.
By only glancing through them they seem to be in honor of the original poster?
I still post on Potsticker!!
We have all become great friends and still share LOTS of great recipes.
The continuation of our thread has nothing to do with the original poster.
PLease leave our thread alone, we are not breaking any forum rules and always abide by the standards set forth.
It is a continuing thread....NOT a resurrected one.
I see NO reason to be annoyed or report a thread that has re-popped unless there is a rash of it happening for no reason by a troll.
Many here including myself search for old topics, old recipes, old advice and may now have something to add.
Just pass it by!!!!!!
