I don't watch enough to have a possible reason why, but I've noticed that sometimes even the hosts have seemed as if they are getting unexpected info from their producers.

I never thought of the problem as being unprofessional -  too much control always feels even more unprofessional to me, and the stages are busier places than I often think of them being.  Years ago when Dave James was still around, I remember a middle of the night look-see into the stagecraft needed to put on a show.   Even then, when the hosts stayed pretty much in one place for their full hour, what surrounded them was more or less a wall of wires and cameras and off-stage support personnel.

After I read this, I noticed it with Martha Stewart, and it was very awkward.

Football is my favorite season.

I've noticed this lately.  Why don't the hosts just say, "Thank you for your presentation.  We'll see you again soon. Enjoy your day."  It seems that the vendors are supposed to wait until the camera moves away from them and then walk away.  Not sure what has changed there, but something has.
