We buy cards but no presents. We buy things we need throughout the year and we try to update the house 🏡 and that takes money 💰 too. Plus we're planning a trip in the fall that won't be cheap and I'll want to buy something special then. Our priorities have changed since we've retired but we tell each other we love ❤️ and that's what's important anyway.

Valentine's Day is just another day at our house. I personally have always thought it was kind of silly. Hubby always asks what I want to do for Valentine's Day and nothing is always the response. He feels the same way I do but I think he is afraid to let it go by without at least asking. Love his heart!

VD is also our anniversary so either we exchange gifts or we do something like take a trip etc. This year we have just purchased a new home so preparing to sell our home is keeping us very busy. We've not made any plans for VD yet. We also NEVER go out for dinner, though I often get flowers.

Since our daughters are away at school, we will drive up to see them and give them their Valentine’s gifts and take them out to dinner.
My husband always buys them flowers and a beautiful card. I always buy them something special too.
That is so nice @Bri36. Lucky girls.
I don't have a significant other.I already got a card and candy for my Mom. Have always remembered her on Valentine's Day. I preordered flowers online from Costco.
I'd say do something nice for your significant other, something unexpected. Sounds unromantic, but maybe something around the house that they have been putting off. Write a letter telling them what they mean to you. Make a small photo album to go with it.

It will be Snickers. He loves them or any kind of chocolate. For me it is dark chocolate.

Yes, we buy each other a card and we go out to dinner (to an Italian place that doesn't double the price for Valentines Day like everyone else, and they give the ladies a rose :-)
I also buy my husband a Valentine container of some sort (different each year) and put in his favorite candies (because he loves candy). He usually gets me a bouquet of flowers or candy.
I just cant stop giving to DH and family. I am a very sentimental person! lol. (See below)
I also send my kids and grandkids Valentine cards. I don't buy my grandkids candy anymore but I put 5 bucks in my granddaughters cards. I used to buy my kids their favorite candies but now they're always working out and dieting so I stopped the candy the past few years. lol. (and just send them cards).
PS) My granddaughters are now 19, 17, and 13, but I think I will always send them cards with some money in for Valentines and Easter (and of course i buy them Christmas and birthday gifts). Many say they stop buying for grandkids for smaller holidays when they get older, but If Id stop Id feel bad. lol.

We have gotten to the point where we ask each other if there is something the other would like. I told him I saw a ring here I really like, and he requested two gizmos for his smart phone. I usually say no to candy but See’s sounds good this year. We exchange cards and toast with champagne at some point. Not sure what to do for dinner this year.
I have an Or Paz ring for DD and the Tarte liquid eyeliner set, plus a couple of Lipstick Queen colors.

Before my DH died 15 years ago we always exchanged beautiful cards. I still have all of them in a large box and I will never throw them away.
Ladies, a reminder: be happy your DH is still with you. If you want to give him a gift, give him a gift card to a hardware store. If he is like many men, he loves to putter in the garage. And don't forget to give him a big hug.

Let me share this one year with you. Out of the blue, he walks in and says, I'd like some chocolate candy, must be time to get you a Valentine's gift. I had to laugh, this is his sense of humor. He also has a sweet tooth. He got US the candy. ![]()
