NickNack, et al - I don't think there is an '@' before anybody's name here, so that might be the problem.

I don't even understand why numerous posters are putting that before posters' names here.  I believe it's a Twitter thing and this isn't Twitter.

Does that just make peoples' posts go to Twitter or something?  I hope not because I don't do Twitter and I don't want anything I say to be there.  If I did, I'd join Twitter.  Smiley Happy

@chickenbutt@, there's an @ before my name in Message 15.  One of the Customer Care reps posted that if you put an @ before someone's name a drop down menu will appear.  You choose someone from that menu, and they should get a notification that there's a message for them with a link to where it is.  I just tried it with you to see if you'll get a notification.

I don't know about that, but if you hover your cursor over someone's name with the '@' sign before it, it will show up like a link to that person's profile page if you click their name.  Just like if you click their name where it appears on the side of the posts, or enter their name in the search bar.

I'm not sure that the 'notification' feature is active yet.

Okay, thanks.  Maybe that's something they're still working on.

Re: Use "HELP" & "SETTINGS" to navigate the new forums

Thanks for that information!  Smiley Happy

I asked on another thread (because I didn't see this one - d'oh!) but maybe somebody here knows -

I cannot find anything in the settings but I wonder how somebody can make it where people cannot put an '@' in front of your name and turn it into a link.  I'd rather NOT have people turn my name into a link.  It kind of creeps me out.   I'll keep looking.    I really don't want a Twitter experience.  I just want a 'posting on a board' experience.  Smiley Happy

We have a myriad of features we didn't have before, and probably too many to use when we first try out this new forum platform.

Here's a suggestion to make it a little easier and more understandable.

Take a look a the column on the left side of the screen.  Below the listing of Forums & Blogs, etc., you'll see, under "Quick Links:"

Now and then, take a "tour" of "My Settings," "Edit My Preferences," and "Help" to become accustomed to all the options and explanations.

In "My Settings," make one change at a time, then go back and look at one forum or one thread to see how the change made a difference.  (I've learned, in working with computers, that making more than one change at a time can be confusing.)

Note:  when you select something like "Help," the sub-sections of that category will appear in the column on the left side of the page beneath the Forums & Blogs list.  You can click on those sub-sections to navigate to that particular topic.

@dooBdoo's Use "HELP" & "SETTINGSto navigate the new forums thread, provides some great quick links to frequently asked questions.

Additionally, the separate HELPFUL TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS... thread (this thread), which @MacDUFF started, has a lot of great tips on how to navigate the QVC forums. -- And, in message #6 in this thread (Click here for Forum Tips), @ChynnaBlue created a number of quick links that address specific issues.

dooBdoo, Macduff, and ChynnaBlue, I'd like to thank you all again for taking the time to help so many of us navigate the new QVC fourm structure that was set up this past June.

Your help, and just knowing your all were around to answer questions, made the transition so much easier... lol, and the transition was anything but easy. Smiley Wink

I hope you all have a very Happy New Year!!! Smiley Happy

Thank you, again!!! Smiley Happy

Thanks for starting this thread.  It has been helpful.

@free-spirit, the new forum structure created a lot of confusion for everyone.

FYI, if you have any questions, the QVC Suggestion Box forum is a great place to get your questions answered.

I hope you have a Happy New Year!!! Smiley Happy
