Now, what are folks going to do with all that TP and water?  Maybe they should donate it.

I wish Costco, BJ's, Target and Amazon would say they aren't going to take it back.

I find the tentative pay increases to be quite reasonable,  given the nature of the work and it's to be implemented over 6 years.  It's a compromise between the demand and the offer and is a logical midrange settlement point.

That was the easy part.  I think ongoing negotiations over automation are going to be much more difficult to solve.

I think that's why TPTB agreed so easily to the pay raise and benefits package.  They have every intention of automating anything and everything they can ASAP.  Looking at it from their viewpoint, I can't blame them.

But I think this is going to happen in all areas going forward.

Hi @CelticCrafter

Have you known, or heard of ppl who return TP/Paper Towels to the store?     vs just use what they bought?

Re: Update on Dock Workers Strike

People have cleaned our Costco out of TP and paper towels to donate to Helene victims.  No doubt some of that was from the dock workers strike but reports are these products were purchased more for the charity drives.

Toilet paper and paper towels are made locally. Why would people stock up on them? They're not imported

Re: Update on Dock Workers Strike

I'm sooo happy for them getting a raise.  (NOT!!!)  I have been at my job for 42 years.  I have a bachelors degree in my field.  I make less than $39 per hour.  And when I do get a raise it is maybe a dollar and hour if I'm lucky.  I work for a hospital..and no I'm not a nurse.

Re: Update on Dock Workers Strike

@CelticCrafter  I wish the same as you do!  I don't know if you read my post about my visit yesterday to 'our' Costco that we both frequent, but I was royally PO'd because I was in need of a pkg of toilet paper and paper towels.  I always purchse from Costco and was in need as I was running low from the last purchase about 2 months ago.  Got there 10:15AM and every pkg of paper towels (800 pkgs the manager said) was sold out in 15 minutes.  People had 2 & 3 in their carts and many even had flats of at least 7 -10 or more on the flat.  No t-paper in the store at all!   I wrote a complaint on the form near the exit and it wasn't pretty!  I also called corporate and the store administrative office to voice my, shall I say, ' very strong' complaint.
