First of all, I want to thank you all for your kind, encouraging words. They really help!

So...we took Boo to the specialty vet this morning and he checked BooBoo out, listened to our story, and looked rather grim. However, he was cautiously optimistic, and I appreciate that he was honest with us--he didn't tell us what we wanted to hear but told us the realistic truth.

And because we caught this so soon, his prognosis is fair to good. This kind of carcinoma IS very aggressive and invasive but the vet said that it didn't feel to him as though it's had to chance to burrow into the tissue.

So, the vet is going to operate at 1:00 o'clock this afternoon and he'll call us mid-afternoon when the surgery is over. We'll pick him up first thing tomorrow morning, and as per the vet's instructions we bought a "cage" into which we'll place his food and water dishes, as well as a litterbox.

None of this is cheap but it's not going to break the back--when all is said and done it'll be little over $3000. It won't break the bank although I wish this hadn't happened at Christmas. I'm not worried too much; if we have to cut back on our gift-giving, our friends and family will understand. (However, mine is all done Smile )

Poor Boo! when he's scared, he howls. When he's REALLY scared, he curls up in a ball and his eyes dilate. Right now he's in the second stage of fear; we all (family) feel SO bad for him but the vet promised they'd load him up on pain meds. It's bad enough this has happened to him and I don't intend that he suffer unnecessarily.

I'll post another update after we hear from the surgeon this afternoon. Again, thank you for all your kind words and good wishes and prayers; they help more than you can know.
