Re: Update On My Health (CT Scan)

Four yrs ago from a routine urine sample my dr. said #'s were off. Recommended I see a urologist who took CT scan with contrast and noted tumor on kidney. Most of them are cancerous and I had the kidney removed. One night in hospital and no chemo involved. I go yearly for ultrasound and chest  xray which is a follow-up prptocol.  Knock on wood -- all is well.

@NickNack

I hope you get good news! All you know right now is that you need information from the experts. Websites can't diagnose you or perform tests, obviously. So right now they can't help you. They can only give you more fuel for worrying hamster wheel thoughts.

If you keep searching and "doom scrolling" for something to make you feel at ease, you will only uncover more scary ideas to worry about. Now that I know from experience.

I know you already know this, but distraction is your best bet. You can't stop yourself from worrying when everything is quiet. However you can give yourself lots of other things to think about instead, to give you vacations from the worry.

I'd say its sort of like having a house full of small hyperactive children stuck inside snowed in on sub zero blizzard on a snow day. They need activities to keep them from drawing on the walls.

If you don't give yourself assigments that completely absorb your attention, your attention will wander to fearful thoughts. Worry is designed to keep cavewomen safe from saber toothed tigers, not to appropriately process the inevitable and common task of waiting for delayed health information.

You have lots of people rooting for you and we all want you to be at ease and well as soon as possible.

@Porcelain   Thank you.  Yes, I'm not going to continue to search for information.  I only did that immediately after my colonoscopy and again after reading the radiology report yesterday.

I actually am not worrying that much about this.  I will be glad to have the appointment with the Urologist and hear what he has to say.  What I did read, though, makes it sound like this is very treatable with surgery if it hasn't spread (if it is malignant).  I think they would know if it had spread from the CT scan, but I'm not positive.

I am not dwelling on this though.

Oh! I'm glad. I was probably just projecting how I would react and what I would do in your shoes. I'm sorry for presuming. Worry is my issue, and it rarely occurs to me that others don't find it as compelling a problem as I do.

I hope you'll take only my last sentence to heart then. Maybe I'll edit the response.

@Porcelain   There's no need at all to edit your response.  I may need to read it sometime during this process.
