This is what can happen after a fire. The ground can't absorb water. Rainfall becomes a flood. A small stream named Cedar Creek runs through the Cedar Creek Canyon. It goes under Hwy 48 and is a feature of the Innsbrook Village landscape and golf course. Cedar Creek Canyon was badly burned by the fire. Most if not all of the homes along the creek burned.
I posted this picture of Inssbrook Village earlier today.
Rain fell on the burn scar, and this is what happened this afternoon at Innsbrook Village.

This house overlooked Alto Lake. It is located in the Alto Country Clubs area. 79 homes have burned here.

Just so heart breaking for the owners.

Fires affect more than landscape. The water supply is of concern.

@On It Thank you for keeping all of us posted. The photos really capture the intensity and destructive nature of the fires- I am so sorry that you and your village are going through this. You are showing so much courage and strength during this difficult and scary time. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that you and your family are safe.

I received word that the mayor is estimating it will be a week or more before evacuees can return to the village.

We evacuated Monday afternoon. The entire village had a mandatory evacuation after we had departed. Our vehicle was packed and ready to go. We had little traffic. The ones who waited had to do an urgent evacuation. They were in very heavy traffic until they reached Roswell. There was only one highway open for evacuations; the fire had closed the other two routes. We are in Texas.
