I have Amazon Prime and my shipments usually arrive either a day earlier or by the second day. I placed an order on 1/26 for four items that were all sold by Amazon. Three of the items were shipped UPS and arrived on 1/28. One item (sold by Amazon) was shipped USPS and was marked as delivered at 5:45pm on 1/28 but the package was no where to be found.
I checked with my neighbors and called my local post office the next morning. I gave my tracking number and address but the woman said the courier who delivered yesterday wasn't at work today and to call tomorrow. Great.
I read Amazon's policy online and they want you to wait until 4pm the following day of delivery before requesting a replacement which is fair. Package never showed up - I was hoping if someone received my package that they would've left it out for the postman to bring to my house. Amazon made it right and created a replacement order for me but I feel bad because it's not their fault that the post office messed up. I told them if the other package turned up that I would send it back.
So, I called the post office this morning as instructed and the same lady (Tara) abruptly told me to call back at 10:00. I mean, they lost it and I have to call back when they feel like looking into it? Like I said, I just feel bad for retailers that have to absorb the loss when it's not their fault and the post office keeps putting me off when I try to resolve it.
Okay, rant off. I feel better now. LOL ![]()

Our local Postmaster leaves a lot to be desired too..Snotty and acts like she is DOING us the favor of providing Service. It is to the point that the occasional time we need to actually go on the PO for something ..my daughter (who does my errands for me) will wait til she is out and about and go to a neighboring town!

From my experiences with all 3 dleivery services out there.... I would give USPS a better rating than UPS and FexEx.

well, to be fair, they may have had a lot of customers that were there waiting. Whenever I call on the phone, I assume that because I am a phone customer, I take the lowest priority over people who are actually there in the store/office.
the mornings at the PO is very busy. That is when they are getting items on trucks, etc as well as people who are waiting in line
cutbacks to the PO (thru no fault of the PO, but Congress) doesn't help either. They are doing more and more work with less.

me too.
USPS is 1st, UPS is 2nd and FedEx is dead last. Hate FedEx.

You can file a complaint with USPS - online or by telephone, Someone from your local office will respond more appropriately.

Me three!
Many packages start out UPS and now are delivered via the USPS.
I never really thought much about ranking the services, but in both the holiday season and the recent string of bad weather, USPS was a clear winner at my home.

It's possible that it was delivered to the wrong address and the people either kept it or haven't got around to putting it back in the mailbox. This happens to my dd frequently.
Evidently the postman is too much in a hurry to actually look at the address.

My best service comes from UPS hands down.

Many years ago I obtained the direct line to the back of the house at our local post office. The immediate supervisor for this route arrives to work at 3:00AM and so when I have an issue with something, that's when I call so he can ask questions directly to the person responsible before they work their route. Works for me!
When a package arrives into town it is placed on a truck same day for delivery. Big difference between USPS and UPS who won't deliver until the following day and if it arrives in town on a Fri you're out of luck...you'll get it on Monday. UPS like the others, is a shipping company not a storage facility so they lose my business. USPS and FedEx always deliver same day. I have been very lucky with Amazon shipping by FedEx also on occasion with a smaller shipping company I had never heard of before but they too gave me stellar service (though got a ton of complaints on yelp in other cities).
