Thank you. I signed up for it.

That's great news, elated.  It has really helped me.  They usually inform you first thing every morning via email, so you will know what mail is coming your way.

@Carol08

Big headline at the top of each e mail, coming soon, not necessarily today

COMING TO YOUR MAILBOX SOON.

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.

I appreciate it, too, finally got signed up for it. My town doesn't have delivery, we all pick up at the post office, so this saves me trips, as I don't get much mail anymore, thanks to email.

If I recall, you can also get text alerts.

I love Informed Delivery. We’ve had it for months. I look forward to my daily email.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: USPS Informed Delivery...Thank You, Kachina625

Most of my mail comes on the day the email says.  The missing mail comes the next day, as mentioned.  So it's not just one post office that has an issue.  It must be something about the process.

Re: USPS Informed Delivery...Thank You, Kachina625

I've been using Informed Delivery for packages for must be over a year. Letter type mail was only added within the past few months. For me it's easier to check the site rather than add to my emails.

As far as mail goes, I also have had a couple of pieces of mail not show up on the day they were listed. I've just checked the box that I didn't receive it and it's shown up within a day or two. Both pieces were junk mail anyway, so I wasn't particularly concerned.

I get lots of packages (most of them small and from small indie companies). I'd say that part works pretty well overall. But I could also probably write a book about all the things I've figured out. Some post offices are notoriously bad at scanning, Some scan, but only upload the information hours later. Packages get on wrong trucks/planes and take the "scenic" route. Packages get placed on the wrong local delivery vehicle or get missed during delivery (but I'm guessing most of the time it's a wrong vehicle issue). Apparently there's not code for that, so the drivers update with various codes, most common being "delivered," followed up with "no one home."

But the packages always show up within a day or two. Sometimes I contact the post office online, most of the time I don't. Out of several hunderd the past three or so years, I've only had one "delivered" package not arrive. Postmaster was able to determine that it most likely ended in the "dead mail" room (with hundreds of other packages that needed address researched). Seller was great about replacing the contents. The original package resurfaced on my Informed Delivery a few months later as it made it's way back to the seller.

I want to thank you, Kachina624 for letting us know about Informed Delivery through USPS.  I signed up for it, and found out that there are 2 pieces of mail that I did not receive today.  Our post office is closed, now, but I intend to call first thing Monday morning. Thanks to your suggestion, I check this every day.....and can't thank you enough for posting the information on the forums.  I don't know if this is the correct board "Community Chat".....but I wanted to let you know how grateful I am for your suggestion a while back.

I've been seeing commercials all over our tv about this service from USPS.

Re: USPS Informed Delivery...Thank You, Kachina625

THis is a great service; wish I had known about it sooner, lol. I've now signed up for it.

One of the issues that I'm hoping this will help with are packages that are not scanned and then "walk" away with an employee. Depending on your post office, your location and a few other things, it's quite easy for someone to take packages especially if they are not a employee there on a constant basis (many go where they are needed depending on the volume) and if they are not your routine delivery person (we don't have one. It's a different person every day). Then there are the ones who simply lie and say it was delivered to your front door (and it wasn't) so you need to file a claim while it has gone "home" with someone else.

The human element is still the problem when it comes to getting your mail/packages.
