The mailman will deliver it. If I have a package coming from UPS they deliver it. If I don't have a package coming UPS they give it to the post office to deliver.

       The post office delivers it.

@tends2dogs I have had it done both ways. So it is always confusing to me. One of the gals I work with has a husband who works for UPS. He said that UPS and the post office have some kind of agreement/contract. UPS might take it right to your local post office and then the local PO takes it from there.

However, I have frequently had packages that started out as the regular mail and then when I check the tracking, there's a statement from UPS says something like "we will be in your area and can deliver it faster," and so my UPS guy drops it off. To me it is not faster when UPS delivers it with that message, because my mail comes around 1:30 in the afternoon, and I am quite positive I am the last person on the route for UPS, as it usually doesn't show up until around 6pm. ha! Unless UPS means that the post office would have delivered it a day later.

And the few times I have had a return, I have on occasion seen where there is a USPS barcode and a UPS barcode on the package. Go figure!

Update: Just checked one of my latest orders. It started out as "UPS delivery by U.S. mail" and then a few days later, when it was close by it said: WE'LL BE IN YOUR AREA AND WILL DELIVER YOUR UPS SUREPOST PACKAGE INSTEAD OF THE POST OFFICE. So it started out UPS and was supposed to be switched to the local post office, but then UPS made a decision to continue carrying it until delivering it to my home.

I officially stopped buying anything from QVC that I think might be delivered by the USPO.  Because of the way things are routed here, it takes at least two extra days to come via the Postal Service.  Further, when they deliver anything in a bag (as opposed to a box), it gets stuffed into the mailbox and looks like it was wallowed on by pigs by the time I get it.  So nothing more from QVC unless it is over-boxed and delivered by UPS.

You have to change your shipping speed then.  Most retailers are doing this, but some give you an option to pay more for a different speed of shipping.  Amazon most definitely does this.

They can be delivered either way.  I haven't checked yet but am starting to wonder if the P.O drops are the items with the $3.00 shipping fees.

This has happened to me a couple of times.  I basically have had no problems with Sure Post but I will say there have been glitches but were remedied within a day or two.  I would be bummed if I paid for "UPS" shipping and ended up with Sure Post though.
