So frustrated with UPS. Ordered a special gift for a special birthday. Unfortunately, the package is stuck at some UPS hub due to "shipping issues". It was supposed to be delivered by 10/22. Now, who knows?????
Sorry, just needed to vent.

So sorry that happened to you.

@grandma r Maybe you can write inside a birthday card that their gift
will arrive soon. That sure is a big disappointment.

Yes, it is disappointing. Delays will get worse as Christmas season approaches. If shoppers need something for a special occasion buy early enough or buy local.

Certainly understand your vent. If only it were UPS with these problems! Following the news concerning the lack of necessary workers, those from every job from manufacturing to delivery? I don't see it improving any time soon.
Seems like the lack of truck drivers is part of this issue. I heard they could use about 80,000 more drivers at the present, and the Trucking Industry may be losing another million drivers soon.
I don't buy gifts, my wife and our families gave that up years ago. With maybe my only living sister buying for her great-grandchildren, as all her grandchildren are now well into adulthood.
Hope you get this soon!

@grandma r Sorry... It might be best if in the future to order as far out as you can when needing to purchase by mail. Small business owners are also concerned about staying afloat due to their products held captive on cargo ships with no one to unload or transport. We will survive this...just requires extra planning. Hoping that your package arrives soon. I understand your frustraation.
@hckynut I heard the same figures you posted.....currently 80.000 unfilled trucking jobs with more to follow. People need to go back to work. Until then keeping strong and calm....wishing you the same.

Thank you all!!!
It's very frustrating, but, I doubt things will get better. There are job opportunities everywhere, yet some are just too lazy to work. Such a pathetic situation.
I'm still hoping the item will get here.

Lost package update....received a message from the seller today. UPS issues are continuing, so the vendor sent out a replacement order this morning, using a different shipping method.
I am most appreciative of the kindness shown.

A lot of people re-evaluated things during covid. They went to school online or did things that gave them opened up other opportunities for the future.
Many decided not to go back into the workforce and pay outrageous daycare costs, especially knowing how little daycare workers are paid.
Many changed their lifestyles.
People want decent wages and benefits.
They want to work for employers that value them and treat them with some respect.
Most companies that have adjusted to that are doing just fine. IMO, There is a shortage of decent pay and good treatment, not workers.
---------------
I was in a fairly high level position at a huge corporation for nearly 40 years. All but the last 2 of those were great. The company changed and treatment dropped to the gutter....name calling, verbal abuse, salary increases for only the top 20%, writing up and firing people for small things, etc etc. I was even called out for not treating my depts that way.
It was common to hear managers and officers say they offered the lowest possible wage "because they can."
Then this year, they decided to end pension plans, stop many benefits, and sell off two huge product lines. They said 50-75 would be laid off. Those departments had over 1,000 employees and people knew laying off 50-75 was a lie. Yup, over 1,000 were laid off. Several hundred others watched what happened and found jobs elsewhere. People are loyal when companies treat everyone well and pay them a decent wage.
